I'm aware of the history, I did a whole report in freshman year comparing the lives and personalities of Catherine and Cleopatra.

Also, the show is so far removed from history. I mean they got Indian and Black people in the court, when I'm pretty sure the Russians barely knew any other non-white race than the Ottomans.

And Peter was NO where as sexy as Nick is.
