there's no point in being self conscious about what you look like... there's not much, aside from plastic surgery, that you can do about it.

i've actually found that guys are a lot more picky than girls. unless someone has extremely conventional good looks or is extremely ugly, women care more about their persona than what the man actually looks like.... a fit body also helps.
