As the years go by-- and what is acceptable content on television becomes less and less-- there was a time when pseudo-athletic events were held at Pepperdine University in Malibu. The entire exercise was for viewers to take a gander at attractive women wearing thin (and in some cases translucent) swimsuits. Broadcaster Howard Cosell stayed away from the Jim Beam long enough to MC the events, dipping deep into his bag of descriptive hyperbole and double entendre.
