Wow I had no idea the guy at the weigh-in naked and the guy who fought in his jockstrap were the same person so thanks for that, imagine boxing in a jock strap these days!! Go on Billy

Times were different. Not as prudent as we have become.
I'm all for nude boxing, soccer, baseball, rugby, ......

This intrigued me. I found the following from a book about Ketchel (the other fighter). "For his fight with Ketchel, Papke wore his trademark jockstrap with a cup protector into the ring without any trunks, leaving his buttocks exposed. As the rules didn't prevent it and it offered the greatest freedom of movement, it wasn't uncommon for prizefighters in the early 20th century to wear only a jockstrap. Ketchel, on the other hand, preferred to wear bright red trunks. Despite his humble attire, Papke was extremely cocky and let it be known he considered Ketchel an overrated nobody. But he would soon find out otherwise."

Amazing, how prudish society has become now. So by this are we surmising more boxers did this around the same time?
