Nudity in the locker room

When I change in the locker room I get completely nude and then go to the showers. Very few other guys seem to do the same. Lots of guys don’t even seem to shower which is gross. Why is that? They’ll check me out but they won’t get nude themselves.
I'm exactly the same, I get undressed in the locker room, put my towel over my shoulder and walk nude to the shower, then do the same on the return. My gym has a weird rule of shorts or towel in the sauna & steam room, but other than that it's nude all the way.

I always get totally naked, walk to the shower, and walk naked back to the locker. This probably stems from my youth background. I was a member of the YMCA. Swim suits were forbidden in the pool and pool area. Then there was college. Community showers there as well as in the Navy. So why change in later life. I have been told by men and women alike that my penis is good looking...so why not show it off.

Having checked your profile, I can confirm that they're right! ;)

Its the only way I know how!
Does anyone notice in my local gym, don't think so, they've all seen everything before

Sadly this is pretty much the norm these days. I grew up with the open gang showers and I think that encouraged nearly everyone to get over their hangups, there's literally nowhere to hide.

I usually strip off after a workout and carry towel over arm to showers. Sense that the younger generation don't approve so if it's busy, I wrap towel around waist instead.

Our gym is filling the membership with the younger gen, which is fine if it helps the club survive the recession. But I see it as quid pro quo. I have to put up with them effing & blinding loudly about football & girls in the locker room & sauna. So they have to put up with me walking around naked and enjoying the feeling. If it offends their 'delicate' nature, oh well, never mind.

I've always been one to somewhat defer to whatever's going on around me. While I have never been a towel dancer, I generally don't just hang out in the locker room nude, and if others are wearing a towel to and from the showers, I will too.

Never been one to just outright flaunt, as I seem to have a sign tattooed on my back that says "Talk to me about my penis". As I don't feel comfortable talking to strangers about my equipment, I don't just hang around nude, unless with a group of friends I'm comfortable with.

My body, my rules.

Before I moved to Florida the manager at my old gym came into the sauna to give me crap about wearing only a towel so I let him know in no uncertain terms that I did not appreciate the other guys tracking in dirt off the streets with their filthy shoes and smearing their skid marks from their underwear and gym shorts over the formerly clean sauna benches. The shithead was astounded that a paying customer actually didn't like their fabricated policy so he tucked his tail between his legs and crawled back to his office.

Besides, if they couldn't force us to wear masks to SAVE LIVES during the height of the pandemic, they sure as hell can't force us to wear needless clothing into the sauna for...reasons. Things are upside down.

Very few at my gyms either. Even in the saunas most stay dressed. Although I did see more this last few times at the gym in FL. But still a rarity these days.

The sauna and steam room rule of at least a towel is likely a health code and sanitation requirement. Are you sure that 100% of the people actually shower before sitting bare-ass on the benches? Every sauna I've ever used has had the sit-on-your-towel (or bottoms of some kind) requirement.

Something to sit when your nude is only common courtesy as well as health reasons. Its almost, if not a requirement at nudist resorts.

But wearing your full workout cloth in the sauna, shirt, shorts, shoes(not flip flops) us a bit much.
Ive also seen some that get in the shower fully dressed.
But to each his own.
Me, I'd much rather be nude.

During my gym time yesterday when preparing to go onto the floor I noticed 3 individuals either dressing after or getting ready to exercise. All 3 were obviously being very modest. After completing my workout there were two individuals preparing to leave. One had showered. His locker was right next to mine. He had a towel fully covering his lower torso it was obvious that he was uncomfortable being nude. The other dude was some distance away. He proceeded to dress over boxer briefs which were worn under his gym shorts. I simply stripped of my workout clothes and put on my street clothes. Of course during the process I was totally nude. A friend of mine was standing by and we chatted as I was changing.

This does seem to be a popular concern amongst so many members here considering three quarters of the similar topic threads are laments about the modesty of other guys when they are changing, showering or taking a piss.

As I've added many times before, I don't concern myself with what others are doing in the gym locker room/bathroom nor do I have a need to remove any article of clothing myself 99.99% of the time during my visits, let alone get completely naked. I am there to workout, get it done in as little time as possible and go on with my day. My home is the place to shit, shower and shave...not the gym and just from casual observation, it seems like most of the other clientele are the same. Every gym locker room I've ever seen has had separate shower stalls with a smaller curtained area connected to the shower proper that the guys that do use the shower utilize to get undressed or dressed and not the common locker area. This seems to be the standard nowadays, at least for big-box gyms.

As far as your opinion on the practice of not showering at the gym after using it being gross, it is just that...your opinion. Besides the fact of not being a big sweater, I don't go to the gym to do balls-to-the-walls, hours long cardio or powerlifting routines and am no less fresh leaving the gym then when I came in and am usually going right home at any rate. So, while there may be a reason for guys to routinely shower at the gym if they are doing P90X and CrossFit, end up a soggy mess and have to go to work or a social function right afterwards, I see little priority to waste another 30 minutes to use a gym shower and risk all kinds of diseases in the process.

The bigger question that must be asked, once again, is why does the fact that the majority of men are not willing to walk around naked in front of you, bother both you and so many others here? The majority of dudes are using the gym to improve themselves, not to serve as eye candy for those hoping to catch a glimpse of real-life peen. There's a ton of naked pics out there, including locker room ones, both staged and maybe not so staged. Which also brings up the answer why many men aren't willing to strip down in front of others, especially given so many others can't be without a phone in their hand for a second, even in the locker room and thus there's always the possibility someone's semi-private nudity becomes very public.

My current gym has private changing and shower rooms, but I do sometimes use another one which has open changing and showers. I usually strip off in the changing rooms but put my towel around me on the way to the showers. I do feel slightly awkward being naked in front of others as I don't have much experience of it (apart from when having sex obvs) but it is a good feeling to be naked
