Yeah, reviews have been saying the sex is too PG.
A straight reviewer even said he wanted to see more graphic sex between the men because it felt so lacking.

The fact of him being in God's Own Country is enough to earn the title IMO. Yeah he is not gay AFAIK but being a gay icon also means having a devoted fanbase made almost enirely of gay folks. We gays are simple: we see a man kiss another man (the basic requirement) and et voila! we have a new guy to worship
