Thought of another question. Does it effect your desire, that initial "want to get it on" feeling? Hope that makes sense.

I had my implant done at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.A 3 piece implant consists od a resivor ,pump, and inflatable tubes. The surgery was same day ,but the recovery was long and painful. But that was expected. As to size,I am not overly endowed, sorry guys, was 6"x5" before surgery.I lost an inch in length and width.this too was expected. But having been impotent since my early 40's I am mid 50's now,it a god send.I could not use viagra or,cialis, due to my heart and high blood pressure.Penile injections gave a very painful erection,so this was my best option.I had to have open heart surgery january 2008,then they did the implant may.As said above both surgeries done at Columbia Presbyterian. The # 7 hospital in the USA.
I can keep hard as long as I want...YEAH !!! Always have a semi due to the implant...gives you a great bulge..lol

Later guys

Mine was done at Mt. Sinai in Miami, but if and when I have a re-do it will be with Dr. Paul Perito in Coal Gables who has done over 5000 implants. I also highly recommend Dr. Brady on Orlando. Both these guys have had lots of experience. That is what you want. Be sure to check out your uro carefully. Again, no loss in size whatsoever for me.

niceone0305, my understanding is that most guys who get implants and lose length are post-prostatectomy patients, who lose length because a section of their urethra is now gone, due to prostate removal - thus the shorter length. Are you saying you still have your prostate but also lost an incg of length with the implant?

I went to see my urologist last week and talked about this. The ED road has been almost twenty years for me and it has worn thin at a a pretty youthful sixty-three. I've taken testosterone which helped for a while. Viagra and Cialis both make me feel ill. Cialis gives me noticeable and uncomfortable facial flushing. I have Dupuytren contractures in my hands (they are an abnormal scar formation process) which put me at high risk for scarring in the penis should I use injections so he has ruled them out. My urologist wants me to come to his office for a demonstration of a vacuum device but that has no appeal to me and he knows it so I think it's just a hoop to jump through. He admits that the guys who have had implants are the happiest with their situations. Research show over 90% satisfaction. Maybe this summer I will have surgery.
If anyone knows of a high volume medical center for this surgery in California I will appreciate hearing about it.

Dear Dave,
Sorry to hear about the Dupuytren's Contracture. My Stepfather was a Surgeon and he of course had surgical repair and PT for it and went back to performing surgery after that was completed.

Though I have had good luck with several ED methods and mine is severe, I 100% agree with you when it comes to investigating the Implant route. In an earlier posting in this thread I encouraged very careful investigation of the surgeon and the size reduction is one of the reasons.

The secret on the implants is to take your time in investigating them and your potential choice in Surgeons. The reduced size is not a 100% thing and there are a few Surgeons out there who compensate by increasing the length and diameter of the implant. If you find this kind of Surgeon you may in reality over time as things stretch slightly gain a little instead of losing a little. Forget the vacuum device. Basically these are the same vacuum pumps people use for enlargement with the addition of a constriction ring to maintain the erection once you obtain one. I had access to this kind of thing and found it absolutely worthless as an E.D. aid. With regards to the scar tissue in the penis from the injections there are ways to alter the formulation to minimize that in sensitive individuals.
It does require a custom formula, but that part is not difficult for the right compounding pharmacy.

You and I have PM'd before an based on what I know in your case I would endorse the penile implant. The main thing you really need to do is to spend at least a year investigating the candidates you would choose as your surgeon. PM me again and I will give you a little more privately on a few things of which I am aware.

Ken, thanks for your response. My contractures are not to the point of interfering with hand function but my urologist took one look and said that was a strong contraindication for using injections. I've been researching surgeons/facilites/implants for about a year but mostly seem to be hearing about surgeons on the east coast.

I realize I'm reviving an old thread but didn't think I should start another one. I got a penile implant on Oct. 10. The surgeon gave me a Coloplast Titan XL Touch at 24 cm plus a 1 cm extender (typically, 20-35% of the implant is within the body and varies based on the individual's anatomy). I was 8", bone-pressed on top, before surgery. I won't be able to activate it for a few more days, but I'm at 6.5" flaccid now. I was around 4.5" flaccid before surgery. However, with an implant, and in particular the Titan models, the difference between flaccid and erect is less than a healthy penis without. Sadly, some guys lose size because they get a surgeon who is less experienced and not aggressive with sizing. I really pressed surgeons on the issue before I found one in an adjacent state who assured he'd match my anatomy as much as possible. My fingers are crossed. I'll report back and post pics after I heal some more. It's ugly right now. The bruising looks bad, but suprisingly, pain has been minimal. It's a little sore to touch in spots, but fine otherwise.

I've dealt with ED from veinous leaking since my mid-30s. I graduated from Viagra pills to trimix shots a couple of years ago because Viagra was no longer giving me consistent, quality results. Trimix is great but gauging doses has always been tricky for me. It seemed the amount needed to get the rock-hard boner I wanted also left me erect for four hours or more. This sounds fun, and it is at times, but it's also too often a nuisance. I decided to go for an implant to have more control over my sex life and also enjoy spontaneity again. I hope I made the right decision.
