i seldom see those things so maybe its common huh

I am not certain either @rbkwp ; years ago they were wooden, but these days there is so much carbon fiber and plastic, used in construction to reduce weight yet maintain strength. I am guessing they are neither wood nor metal, but rather are synthetics.

This is the written language of the Na-Xi people. It is basically pictograph. It is not anything remotely like the Chinese language.
I understand these pictures do not represent an alphabet system, so each picture represents a word by itself.

The photo on the left says "Na-Xi Concert Hall". Na-Xi is the native people in the LiJiang area.
They have their own language and culture. Their native tongue is totally different from Chinese Mandarin.

i am 1/2 Chinese and do not know my culture

i did go to my fathers village with him in the late 70s
the modern home he had built was in his village in Canton/Kwangchow, Soiuth China
