From east to west Hawaii is the widest state in the United States

I realize this notion is repeated all across the google-able web, and I have not undertaken a scientific analysis, but I cannot imagine that Alaska is not wider. The Aleutians, alone might rival Hawaii!

As to a cool fact (and one I have not independently verified!):

Juneau (population of about 31,262) is the only state capital in the US with no road access. It can only be reached by air or sea.

If you cut out 2/3 of a human liver, in a year the liver will completely regrow its self healthier than before

Ahhh, i knew it can regenerate, i did'nt know it was able to do it from that proportion, i thought it was only able to do it if 1/4 or less was missing. Impressive.

Its the only part of a human body able to regenerate i believe.
(except in newborn babies where they can regen the tips of their pinky fingers should they have an accident and lose it. I don't know how this was discovered tho)

This fact was explained to me that there are scattered points of land in the water that belong to the state of Hawaii that exceed that of Alaska.

There are no racial or ethnic majorities in Hawaii. Everyone is a minority. Caucasians (Haoles) constitute about 34%; Japanese-American about 32%; Filipino-American about 16% and Chinese-American about 5%. It is very difficult to determine racial identification as most of the population has some mixture of ethnicities.

I get two different claims about the width of Alaska off the net.
One, repeated several times, is 810 miles, which would be considerably less than the 1523-mile width of Hawaii.
However, I suspect that may apply only to the Alaskan mainland.
Another claim, from Wikipedia, is 2261 miles, which I assume includes the Aleutians.
So ....
Nudeyorker, fuhgiv me. But ST wins duh cup.

1. Water is wet. (How's that for useless?)
2. No matter one's weight, at death apparently everyone loses 21 grams. Supposedly the weight of one's soul.
3. The surface of one's lungs would cover a tennis court.
4. 'Facetious(ly)', is the only word in the English language that have the 5 vowels (plus 'y') in alphabetical order.
5. Hickboy is (mostly) harmless...

Hawaii has its own time zone (Hawaiian Standard Time.) There is no daylight savings time.) The time runs two hours behind Pacific Standard Time and five hours behind Eastern Standard Time
