Hi Guys,

Did a little count up the other day of sexual partners...
Now I think I'm pretty average but according to various surveys it seems not so much:

Supposedly in the last 5 years the most common number is 5-10 partners for gay men. And generally the average number for any person, I think I read somewhere was 12....

Is it me, or are these low?!

Lol - I have spent the past 30 years in NYC - a lot of people I know are in the 1000's (the gay ones I am talking about). The most I ever heard was one guy estimating 10,000. While there is no way to count that - when someone estimates in the 1000's they usually mean at least 1,000 and more. People have sex at the gym, pick each other up off the street, internet, bars, sex clubs, bath houses etc. There must be a lot more opportunities here for sex or really really slutty people.

I had a friend who claimed to have slept with 3000 people between the age of 16 and 32. In his case I think this was far beyond just being promiscuous and I believe he had an addiction / compulsion going on. I've been sexually active for 23 years or so. Comparing the two, I've had 7 or so partners a year, while he had a new partner every other day or so.

Do I feel like a slut - not at all when compared to that.

Yes, I would say that if it is in the thousands, it is an addiction rather than promiscuity.
That, or it is your occupation.

Since I've been sexually active I've had 60+ partners. That's ah, in the last 7, almost 8 years however. You also have to take into account that there have been two periods of over a year where I wasn't having sex at all as well as a year and a half where I was monogamous with one person. :tongue:

I think that the word promiscuity in reference to having multiple partners is a bit too old fashioned and moralistic for today's world, particularly on a sexually liberated web site.
