My comments about a recently departed political figure have also been reported and removed as "unnecessarily mean" by mods because of it.

To clear the air I have to say I bore her no personal animus. Indeed I didn't know her well enough to make any personal judgments. Nor was she a symbol, idol or icon for me. Nor did she create a body of work I can say I admire as I do with some other cultural icons.

I think it's important in death not to idolize the departed but to see their lives clearly and truthfully as they were.

My comments were not intended to wound. I apologize to those who were offended by them.
