judging by the cut edges that just didn't get inside the frame, i'd say yes, the photographer just did not have a wide enough angle lens. the feel is authentic too. but that's just my opinion.

It's rather clearly composited. As has been pointed out, the same subjects appear repeatedly (not just twins). No guess as to whether it's original vintage or retro.
