I don't get to travel much but I'm hoping in the next few years that will change a bit.

Recommend a restaurant from somewhere you've been while traveling or that's in your home town/city!

I'll start off with one that's in my state but not my city.. but I have been there and it's seriously good in my opinion. The chili is ON POINT.

La Barraca in Gallup, New Mexico.

I'm gonna love this thread so hard.

The wife and I went on a road trip through Utah to visit all the national parks that beautiful state has to offer. While we were at Capital Reef National Park, we visited the little town of Torrey, Utah.

We ate at a place called Capitol Burger. The guy that owns it makes his own meat patties, spread, and cheese. Its was fucking amazing. That place will forever be my happy place.

I introduce to you: the Jeffrey. My go to spot when I have to travel to NYC. Old as hell building, cool vibes, good food and great beer/cocktails. If you find yourself in the Upper East Side, this should be a stop.

Hubby and I wanted to start a blog about places we've eaten because we travel quite a bit.

The most recent on my list is Vinnie's Italian in Asheville, SC. We were blown away by the food and the ambience!

We had no reservations - just saw it as we passed. Later we decided to take a chance, and I'm so glad we did! We happen to hit on Lobster Ravioli night! Homemade with big chunks of clawmeat thrown in for good measure.

Another that I absolutely loved and one of the only restaurants that I've ever gone to two days in a row is way down in South Louisiana. It's what's called a plate lunch place - Laura's in Lafayette. I call it soul food though. And it's outstanding! I had a safe fried pork chop the first day we visited. I was told that stuffed turkey wings (!!!) were the best thing on the menu.

Well, I wish they would have told me before I ordered, so I had to come back the next day and try them. And I'm so glad we did! Spicy but delicious!

Too many outstanding restaurants in New Orleans to pick just ten!

Oh please EllieP, give us some NOLA restaurant recommendations; just a couple at a time.

It seems like Vinnie's Italian restaurant on Lobster Ravioli night is a winner!!

A few years back we were in the city looking for oysters. Well, of course, Acme Oyster Bar is at the top of the list, so off we go. The line is horrendous!

Then we look across the street, and we see a place call Felix's Oyster Bar. And there's no line!

So we go in this little diner looking setup and there's a shucker behind the bar and someone on the grill fire roasting oysters.

The shucker tells us it's cash only and they don't have a liquor license. But we can go to the bar on the corner and bring booze in. LOL! So we do!

The guy looks at my husband and says "You're..." He says "You're the second guy today to tell me that."

He gets a dozen that go quickly; I go for the char-broiled. Not a raw fan.

Cap gets another dozen and the guy gives him sixteen.

"I think you gave me too many."

"I'm a product of N'awlins public schools. Bad at math."

Yeah, not so bad. Cap gave him a fifty for a tip!

Sadly, we've been back to Felix's lately, and it's been discovered.

Ellie, I suspect he knew who Cap was, hence the additional serving. And after the fifty-dollar tip he was positively convinced! ;)

In Albuquerque there was the best burger spot ever and I just remembered it while my fella and I were remembering grubs we've had in the car years and years ago. This was one of our FAVORITE places to get a burger and milkshake.

I looked it up to share here and it's permanently closed and IT BROKE MY FUCKIN HEART!!!

GRIFF'S I MISS YOU!!!

This is another cute place in New Orleans called the Camellia Grill, and it's just one big counter that wraps around. The locals love it, but it's been discovered. It's at the end of the Garden District, but you can take a streetcar there from the French Quarter.

Hubby asks to eat there every time we go.
