Ryan Guzman

I don't know him but he's been open about mental health struggles before and trying to find an outlet through creative endeavors.

Well, as a thought, maybe he should try therapy instead of celibacy, religion, and boxing.

He won't though. He may have some capacity to self-reflect on his machismo upbringing but you can have the language and still not want to engage in potential solutions.
Yeah, you’re right about that. He’s probably looking for relief in the wrong places.

On the other hand, I wonder if he’s in a state of mind to see this or make good decisions at this specific moment. Again, I hope I’m wrong and I’m just a worrier, but when I say my radar pings I don’t mean “Ryan seems like a fellow depression sufferer”; I mean “if I were part of Ryan’s circle I would be checking on him right now”. He looks and sounds off.

its sad to live in a world where 50-60% of men are so deep in their toxic masculinity
they think they gotta act a certain way to maintain their man card
sometimes i look at these men and thats it cuz the moment they open their mouths, i see them differently
Literally had this happen to me the other day. Got chatting with a completely random guy whilst traveling. He was pretty hot and my type (straight though, I think), then 30 minutes into the conversation my attraction to him had died a very painful death.

You'd hope people around him would check but he wouldn't be the first famous person to suffer a mental health crisis because he's surrounded by shitty people.

Particularly when religion is involved.

I cant help but feel like the bits I've seen of the podcast is that he's putting on a mask. The way he reacts to his usual group IE 911 cast. His whole personality is different. Where as he does these podcasts and he's reacting how he's expected to react especially as that podcast is very, very "traditional" way of life, God heavy. Not really a fan of the woman tbh. Just very weird questions.

I know right?

From his latest posts, starting with his dance video and all, he seems to be really depressed. I thought I was going crazy because people are saying he looks happy and whatnot and I’m like ????

To be fair the dancing video was a homage to his friend Twitch, maybe it was the aniversary of his passing or something. They seemed pretty close.

That he leaned more conservative is not really a shocker if you paid attention. Aside from the whole slurs debacle in 2020 and sharing anti-vax conspiracy theories, he's always followed some accounts that shared questionable shit, and his brother has been vocally spouting conservative and alt-right talking points on his social media, and they seem pretty close. Not to mention his ex-wife is a gun nut attwhore Jordan Peterson follower
Also, he has been open about his mental health struggles, so that someone with his upbringing turned to religion is not a surprise. It remains to be seen how far he'll go.

The lowkey sexist opinions also aren't a surprise. It seems to come from that new breed of MRA influencers that repackage misogynistic views on a more palatable argument, where they recognize the issues with toxic masculinity and male loneliness, but shift the blame on women instead of, you know, the patriarchy lol

I'm going to suggest mental health issues.

I mean he doesn't exactly sound happy. And what was that stuff about women being "hard" or whatever? Disturbing.
Well, when a person doesnt accept himself as he really is and needs to pretend to be someone else just to fit in with his environment or to please others, over time he will begin to see the consequences. I'm not sure what his sexuality is, but analyzing his situation from many years ago I can deduce that he is not straight.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ :no_mouth: I guess he would like
live a life with more freedom, but because of his job, family and latin roots he cant do it, that is generating anxiety, insecurity and stress that is leading him to apathy and making decisions that are not helping him at all.

Just saying that we all have problems. But not everyone who has problems with their family, their job, and potentially their sexuality chooses to dive deep into religion and start spouting such weirdly misogynistic talking points.

Getting help starts with wanting to get help and there's healthy ways of coping and unhealthy ways of coping. In the modern age, with a plethora of info and resources out there to draw upon for those who want help, the idea that a man as well-financed as him lacking the capacity to find the right sort of help wears a bit thin in my book.

I agree. I don’t feel the least bit bad for Ryan.

The loudest people here are people who ship BuckTommy or whatever they want to call it….None of y’all really actually care about him or his mental health or his beliefs when most of ya’ll are on here lusting over men who probably have his same “ideologies” about women, relationships, etc and ya’ll ignore it. People are talking like they’re experts and know his psych, and I’m just here wondering if you all have the credentials and degree to analyze him lol?

Ad hominem, whataboutism, any other classic deflection techniques you want to employ?

I have a degree in Psych but I suppose that would be too "Appeal to authority" for you. If you even choose to believe that, because, let's face it, this is the internet. Anyone can make any kind of claim.

At the end of the day who is saying it doesn't change what is being said. That cuts both ways. Because what Ryan said was sexist.

He's hot but that doesn't mean what he said, and the platform he's giving to Christian conservative views, isn't incredibly unappealing.

Idk, just doesn't feel realistic to me (yes I am aware nothing about the show is particularly realistic but still... ) but him being bi/queer at this point just feels like pandering and fan fiction to me. I'm fine with him remaining str8. Buck being bi is enough.
no "pansexual" man says this. The show is fictional. You sound like a whiny conservative. Pansexual men aren’t against bi representation

He does go to therapy. He went to therapy to save their marriage too. He said, he went to therapy, he presented the problem and change himself, and try to work things out.

To the misogynist thing, i don't think that was the right way to word it. Chrysti Ane (ex-wife) is into guns, working out, has a job etc (those are the traditional male things, right?). He seemed okay with that. In the interview, he said " Women don’t need to battle their pains alone" and encouraged them to talk things out. I think the women needing to be independent thing is coming from his partner(s) doesn't communicate well with him and always needs to be right.

Side note: i think her ex was the main person taking care of their children since he would work long hrs and weekends. however, he is always there for his children it seems.

They've been saying that since Ryan got on the show all those years ago lmao
If there was really a desire to go there from both actors and writers, they would've done that last season already, since Fox was the one vetoing queer arcs for both while ABC greenlit at least one
And we know Eddie/Tommy was considered at first but it "fell through", most likely because of Ryan not wanting to do it
Didn’t Ryan talk about how he was getting used do playing a gay character? He seemed uncomfortable
