The show has teased enough at this point. It's long past the point for the show to do it or give them both permanent love interests.

Haven’t watched since tommy left but I Just saw a clip of them bickering at a bar and getting implied homophobia comments from on of the patrons

he's gonna keep them perpetually single so he can string the fandom along until they get cancelled and they both get last minute love interests

Which is basically what happened at the end of the last season they had on fox, had the cancellation held the ending would have been Eddie and Marisol and the death doula and Buck.

The only version of Buddie the show is able and willing to produce is the version that's currently been realized, and that's basically bros who've become like family. That's it, that's all. They literally gave the fans Tarlos on a spin-off because they knew they weren't interested in a romantic version of Buddie.

I miss Tarlos. Saaame! I liked it more than Nashville.
I watched it regularly until they killed off Tommy’s husband. I thought that wasn’t necessary because he was a strong support to her and gave more layers to the character. After that, I just watched it every once in a while
I think not having characters from Lonestar participate in the games cross-over was a huge missed opportunity. I’m assuming it would have been cost prohibitive.
