Shaving because your dad does

As soon as I started growing facial hair I started shaving it off, not least as my dad, school mates and most men I had seen shaved.

Pubic hair was different, I had only a handful of men naked and all were hairy, so it seemed natural to leave it - this was c 1980.

But did anyone grow up with a dad who shaved, or a least trimmed, his pubes - if you did, did that encourage you to keep your bush under control, or perhaps to show that you were your own man and leave it wild ?

I have no idea of my dad shaved or trimmed. I did, however, wear the same kind of underwear that he did (Jockey bikinis) as I thought that was cool.

When I used to shave, I did it was I used to watch straight porn and wanted the look and feel (most of the men there are shaved).

Then I grew out of that phase and now I trim ever few months.

Balls are always smooth. Hubby prefers them that way.

my dad didnt have any body hair at all....i have some but not a fur coat. I did start shaving my face as soon as I got some dark peach fuzz. As for the pubes, I just didnt like the feel of them scratching me all the time, so I started trimming them when I got a decent patch and it was bugging me....and have trimmed and shaved ever since.

Hah, no way my dad would do that or even show me how to take care of the bush below.
He already laughed at me because I started shaving my face by myself, he didn't teached me, just made fun of my starting moustache and when it was shaved off for the first time he laughed at me so hard. Not cool.

interesting thread. No male in my family, either side, had any body hair (except groin) at 8 or 9, i began to see hair on my pits, legs, forearms and pubes. By the time i was 12 i had already started shaving almost every day. Of course my dad laughed at me, but finally bought me my own razor. When my chest began to grow hair, and lots of it, again when my dad would see it, he would make fun. I thought something was wrong with me until i visited my neighbor friend. He was 7 years older and his chest was covered with black hair. I thought it looked good. When my chest was so much it curled over my t-shirt neck band, he would pull at it everytime he got close to me. One day, i said to him...are you jealous? He didn't bother me anymore.
