Silkies

Can I get some silkie advice... For those of you who own Soffe brand silkies... Do you buy one size up from your normal everyday clothes size?

I always wear medium sized underwear and shorts.... I was wondering if I should get medium sized silkies? I read in some of the Soffe silkie reviews that a few people bought one size up from their normal everyday size. What's everyone's experience when it comes to picking a size? Buy your normal everyday clothes size or buy one size up?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there, here to help.

For your reference, my height is 5’9, I’m 170lbs-180lbs, 31-33 waist, average body type with some athletic build (I run and hike moderately; and lift weights occasionally).

Also important to note: I wear Soffe silkies as is, nothing underneath, the liner provides adequate support and comfort for me. If you plan to wear something underneath your silkies, you must take that into consideration.

I’m usually a medium too when it comes to underwear and shorts. As far as Soffe brand silkies - medium fits perfectly fine and also “looks” best for me. When not using Soffe silkies to exercise, hike, or run - I usually wear Soffe silkies as underwear and often as sleepwear and lounging about. No problems with quality or performance whatsoever, very little to no chafing and my junk feels secured by the built in liner, when I wear them all day or for extended exercise.

I do own size small and large soffe silkies too and the sizing difference compared to medium feels a little more forgiving because the nylon fabric has a little bit of elasticity and the waistband and liner leg openings have elasticity too. That being said, there is a “slight” noticeable change how the waistband and leg liner openings hug my body when I compare the large and small to the typical medium pairs I prefer to wear. The large feeling a bit loose and small feeling a bit tight on the waistband and liner leg openings compared to the medium. However, those differences aren’t too much to the point where wearing a large or small felt uncomfortable. If anything, just cosmetics is the most noticeable difference - large looking a little more baggy and less flattering on me while small looking too tight and skimpy for my taste. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t wear them though - I reserve large for just lounging at home and small as underwear. Medium looks best with just the right length to show off my legs when wearing in public. Medium is also the best fit around the waistband and liner leg openings that’s comfortable for myself when I wear them as underwear or need them for exercise.

Lastly, beware of inconsistent and occasional updates in batches when Soffe makes their silkies. Occasionally, the sizes and feel of the nylon fabric maybe a little different, especially if you plan on buying multiple pairs but between long periods of time.

Anyways, hope that helps!

I’ll be happy to post pictures in comparison between the small, medium, and large when I put them on. (Just not now, it’s 3am here in San Diego, and even though this insomnia is annoying me, I’m too lazy to get off the bed and model some pics right now, lol).

Thanks for your input! Much appreciated :). Photos would be great, if you don't mind. U could private message me if u want. Thanks.

5'9", 170 pounds. My first pair of Soffe silkies are size L red. They are somewhat loose, and the liner has so much room that my dick hangs loosely. They feel really good, but sometimes the swaying back and forth when I walk produces an unwanted erection. This summer, I bought a pair of royal blue silkies size M. The medium fits better and keeps Junior more secure than the size L.

Agree. I got the Golden ones you see in the pic in M size and they look great but I will try one size down next time. 5'7" 145lbs here

I hear ya. always go a size or two smaller. In middle school I started off in my dad's M in OD green. I got my own in S and went to XS in OD green. ive graduated to S. They are light, keep my junk in place, but are comfortable and show-off what I got.

Has anyone noticed a change in material? My Dad's and mine from middle school and high school were different fabric and cut, the new ones I have ordered lately are cut different and the fabric feels different. I miss the old way.
