I'm an avid cocksucker, but I too have to fight my gag reflex, especially when he is in the six inch plus bracket. I've found positioning can help. If you're kneeling to your partner, your body is naturally tensing up more and it's therefore more difficult to relax your mouth and throat. Try to get really comfortable before you start, sitting rather than kneeling, so your diaphragm relaxes. If you have an understanding partner, try lying back and taking him from underneath. If he is big, I always wrap my hand around the base so I have my fingers to aim for, and he'll believe you're deep throating him.
