This isn't about fear of showing the penis. Since 2000, laws in many countries have prohibited full-frontal displays. If films were produced in defiance of this ban, no country would buy such a film or series and broadcast it on television. Producers of such films wouldn't make any money. In films from the 70s, 80s, 90s, you often see dicks. And that's wonderful!

Spain, especially, was quick to show nudity -- including full frontal male nudity -- after the death of dictator Francisco Franco who make such content illegal.
I saw him at Chipotle about 15 years ago with his girlfriend. I was trying to remember where I recognized him from and she noticed and kind of smiled at him getting "recognized."
