I appreciate your point. I suppose the nature of 'softcore' is about 'sexual fantasy' so naturally all actors and actresses are meant to be 'desirable'. They are supposed to be good looking and have sexy bodies. Back in the good old days, there were at least a few new softcore tv shows on cinemax per year and there were multiple movies from Indigo, Playboy, MRG, etc every month. It was a lot easier to find actors/actresses entering into the 'softcore market' when there were enough work around. As you said, these actors would less likely get a mainstream movie role so the softcore genre provided an alternative income source for them. As the market started drying up, it became a lot harder to get any new face willing to shred his/her clothes off and left a 'softcore mark' on their resume for being paid at one movie. Some casting directors started to cross over hardcore talents into softcore as a 'solution'. Personally I think this was part of the catalysts which contributed to the downfall of softcore in the final days.
 
For me, I´d rather watch softcore than watching real porn. I know it´s just act, the actors are not even hard at the moment but its much better.

A lot of the time growing up (and still now too) I honestly do too tbh. I think its the fact that it feels more erotic and sensual. I also felt a lot of softcore scenes gave some amazing ass shots of the men. I think the fact it was so erotic turned me on so much more than hardcore

They covered a broad spectrum including love stories, comedy, thriller, ghost stories and period drama (no action movie and I suppose the budget is higher for action scenes). But the last two years unfortunately quantity is winning over quality. Many of the weekly outputs are just simply using 2 or 3 sex scenes to make up to a total 60 or 70 minutes for a movie. Same combination of actors/actresses are used in multiple movies and there are hardly a plot in some of these movies. I hope it won't go down the same path and these movies will die in South Korea due to audiences being put off by low quality work.

I do hope that someone here is from South Korea and can give us more insight about why/how softcore can survive over there while there is nothing left in the rest of the world.

I am not from SK. But from my knowledge, it is because real porn is illegal there. So, softcore is the replacement.

The thing about softcore is that it was like cat mouse game. You watched it becuause of the hot bodies of the actors and becuase you were trying to see their middles. You could use your imagination and have fantasies. There is more room for fantasy with softcore actors than with hard core porn actors.
