Soul Train

Oh even better. When was the last time you watched them? I bet they are great.
Last time we watched I was in high school, so 1993.
Highly embarrassing.
Get down with your funky self! YouTube - Jackson 5 - Dancing Machine
Jacksons were a little before my time -
YouTube - Let's Groove - Earth wind and fire -
YouTube - Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me
YouTube - Lionel Richie - All Night Long (All Night)
YouTube - Timex Social Club Rumors
YouTube - Oran "Juice" Jones - The Rain

Watched each perform on Souuulll Trainnnn! :biggrin1:
I'm so old, yet not mature, ahahha! :09:

This is way before my time, but I wish I was alive when this was at its peak!

I hate that I have to experience people like Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder through youtube, instead of ebeing able to witness them in their prime!

Jody Watley was discovered on Soul Train.

Wasn't it more that Shalamar that was discovered, vs. Jody herself????

[fuck, bad that I'm challenging Jody Watley trivia....]

Soul Train was like *the* Saturday show when I was a kid, always signaled the end of cartoons (which I didn't watch :() and meant we could finally go outside and play.

Same here. Here in San Francisco... cartoons ended, and American Bandstand went on the major ABC network, while Soul Train went on the local Oakland affiliate (...go figure), now Fox.

Was once told, that Sly Stone would roll down to KTVU studios and did a spot or two of "coming up next, Soul Train" ads... completely obliberated, a la the Dick Cavett show appearance. I've yet to see on YouTube, nor confirm. Maybe just a rumor round my hood.

P.S. Sly is god.

oh man, i love rapping. i'm terrible at it, tho. my students are nice to me. they said i wasn't horrible even though i know i'm horrible. after school today i was rapping "still fly" by the big tymers, "the world is yours" by nas, and "black cop" by krs-one. the students must think i'm flipping crazy, and they're right. it's an interesting dynamic we have here at my school: i'm the teacher (because i'm new and unconventional) everyone in the school doesn't respect working with the students in the school (special ed) that no one respects. LOL.
