Steven Yeun

He dropped out for a romance film. Maybe that's better all around.
Not just any romance film. A romance film by the director of Minari, the writer of Killers of the Flower Moon and Forrest Gump and the producer of Parasite. Anyone would drop the sinking ship that is Marvel for that.

He was a godawful casting choice for the Sentry anyway, so good news all around. Now they can cast a big, muscled guy, as they should've done in the first place.

I know the argument can be made that starring in a Marvel film can boost one's profile and so role choosing power, so I get why people accept the offers, but honestly, it won't be sad not to see Steven in the McDonalds cheeseburger of cinema :p.
I feel like that's less true these days, as Marvel's cultural capital has been largely diminished. Like, look at Brie Larson, Marvel pretty much derailed what was a once promising career.

Nothing lasts forever I guess. The writing was probably on the wall when the term 'superhero fatigue' started gaining traction. I feel like big cinema in general is in a very weird place. I look at all the Oscar nominees for instance and hardly any of them seem to have much cultural significance. Certainly not lasting, anyway. If popcorn Marvel cinema is also flagging, yeah, what's left? Netflix movies? o_O

Horror movies it seems.

Brie did other great work in between. She's not been derailed. But this isn't about her.

Steven's part was supposedly offered to Austin Abrams, so don't get your hopes up.

Yeah, I saw that. I suppose no matter what, they're dead set on casting a skinny twerp as the Sentry for some reason.

I'd much prefer if they just abandoned the idea of an MCU version of the Sentry altogether.

I hope Steven can capitalize on his Emmy win with really noteworthy follow-up projects. The Minari connection is certainly promising for quality, hope lightning strikes twice there.

Yes and for lots of actors they are just those MCU characters forever. Worse than being typecast.
