Going thru this thread got me so nostalgic for the Gaiety theatre in NYC. I was conflicted about my sexuality
until my early 20's. I knew I was gay but, you know the drill. But I finally wanted to slowly explore. I had seen
the tiny ad for the Gaiety in the Village Voice all the time. Tiny ad with guys names listed. One day in NYC, I
walked by the theatre to check it out. The entrance was a dark long staircase to nowhere next to the Lunt-
Fontane Theatre. What was up there ? What would happen to you ? I was excited and scared at the same
time but didn't go up. One day I finally got the courage to go up. Got to the top and paid the woman in the booth,
walked thru the turnstile and was in the Gaeity. I walked to the front and saw a tiny screen showing a porn film.
The iconic silver curtain was behind it. There were just a few men in the audience. I found my seat and waited.
Then the show started. Robin S' song "Show Me Love" started to play and out came Tony. Really cute guy, slim
build. He started dancing. Took his shirt off, unbuttoned his pants, showed his ass briefly, then left the stage.
Now I thought that was it. I had been to female strip clubs in NJ with my friends and the women really didn't show
much so I figured this was the same. Well image my face (and other parts) when Tony reemerges naked with an
erection. I was shocked and in love at the same time. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and I would get to see
6 more guys after him. I was hooked. I went back many many times over the years. I liked that you could just
watch the show not have dancers always coming up asking if you want a lap dance. My favorite memory was
of late porn star Joey Stefano. He would dance there on occasion. I was leaving the theatre and he came out and
asked me if I liked the show. His voice was so sexy. We talked for a few minutes, then an older guy came out,
they looked at each other, the old guy walked ahead and Joey said goodbye and the two met up down the block.
I really wish NYC would get a place like that again.

wow when was that? me first visit there was in 1990 i was on summer exchange from manchester and i stayed in the Y for a week and i can still feel the rush that u felt when those hunky gaeity boys came out dancing all hard from the back. NYC was a lot more dangerous then though i almost got me wallet nicked while writing postcards at the booth on mezzanine floor inside time square KFC. NYC smells different back then too and yeah i like the old NYC better too ! ^^
