The Conjuring

Sucked, as does just about every horror movie released nowadays.

Horror movies have become far more focused on cheap shock scares than actually instilling fear in the audience.
I don't remember much of any cheap shock scares in this movie o_O

I am curious, what movie did you find scary?

Well, it is a quote from one of the guys the movie is about, and is supposed to further the element of this being based on real events. I viewed it less as forcing the views, and more of trying to convince us that it is real to make it that much more terrifying.

Yeah, I know it's a quote from that guy. I still think it was way over the top, though.

I can appreciate and understand the way you viewed the movie, and you might be quite right that the point was to further the element of realism. But I simply can't watch a movie this exaggerated without considering it a complete work of fiction. The fact that some of the characters are real doesn't add anything to the experience for me, and I feel I have to view the demonic manifestations in the movie as an allegory for the the sinfull nature of humans, which are considered demonic in certain branches of Christianity.

I don't think I would have to resort to this "reading" of the movie if it had been a little more subtle in its Christian views.

Well, that's how I see it. It didn't ruin the movie for me. After all, it's just entertainment. And I would think that people like Eric_8, who have grown tired of modern horror cinema because of the focus if chock value rather than atmosphere, would love this movie.

no matter of someone's beliefs, it was all waorth it. I dont' know if someone mentioned this already, but the only "bad" part of the movie was the - way too- happy ending.... yep, way too happy.
