Why does being a science writer preclude him from being a fanatical atheist? I think he tends to rant and use emotional arguments, quite frequently...plus, I'm not convinced he understands that much about religion.

I agree he points the finger, fairly, at ignorant bigots - but often (not always) what he seems to criticise about religion, is the behaviour and misinterpretations made by these bigots...

I don't think it's bullshit. Sure hes a scientiest, and a good one at that....but hes still very fanatical. Like the fanatical creatonists, hes not willing to compromise at all. And to be honest that's not a good trait to be found in anyone.

I agree with you on the point that he does argue with ignorant biggots, but like joll says he doesn't seem to understand much about religion at the same time.
