The Current Attack on LGBTQ+

Pride month has been filled with so much hate. How concerned are you? Will LGBTQ+ be forced back in the closet? Or will it fade to the background when something new is the flavor of the moment?
Well general intelligence of population is crashing down quite quickly these last years so religions back, and primitives fears are back :worried:

As a closeted pansexual man myself, homophobia is the reason I'll always stay closeted.
I'm 26.

It feels like even ppl inside of the community are getting a lot more homophobic. From the using of homophobia as "jokes", to complaining about pride month being too long or tiring or whatever the fuck, it's concerning how homophobia is on the rise in 2023

To be honest I kind of want to go to pride this year (never been) but I don't want to risk it. I know i'm probably being paranoid but this year has felt like a lot more hate has surfaced. Budlight, target, the constant talks of "pushing it onto the young". And, for some reason a lot of creators/influencers are now receiving praise for disagreeing with it (people like the streamer nickmercs). Idk, i'm concerned for my safety and have a bad feeling. Maybe i'll go next year or in a couple years in the hope that there's less hate.

It makes me furious....we've had so much advancement in LGBTQ+ rights and it feels like it's slipping away thanks to the right wing bigots and all the hate on social meida.

The platforms like Twitter, Facebook etc. don't care because hate gets clicks and clicks mean money.

As for all the companies that 'go gay' for June with rainbow logos - it's all well and good but then they don't deal with the hateful comments on their own social media posts. It's their page, they have total control on what is there....if they were the allies they say they are, they would remove the hate speech. But again, they do not...because hate gets clicks.

Pride needs to be more of a protest than ever before and we need to push back on the hatemongers hard.

Oh and the LGB Alliance types are making it worse - that group is a hate group - there is NO LGB without the T or QIA2S etc....

What's funny here, malakos?

I feel safe and free in the US. I do stand with Gays Against Groomers, though I don't identify as a conservative. It's concerning and a little disturbing that standing up against predators within the gay and trans community is seen as homophobic/transphobic. That being said I don't trust conservative legislators to address the issue in a smart way that won't lead to authoritarian extremes that we don't want. But keeping hormone therapy and reassignment surgery only available to adults is damn important as far as I'm concerned.

Not trying to argue about it really, just voicing my voice so that it's clear gay men who think the way I do exist.

tHIS IS MY OPINION ONLY. Since the trans people have started demanding people accept them NOW all hell has broken loose. This started 2 years ago and I have tried to educate myself to see if I missed something, but I have not. There are a lot of gay people that feel the same way, and I mean a lot.
The gay community fought for equal rights and that is just the opposite of the trans community. They are so demanding and wanting things now that it's nausiating. Being trans is also so much more complicated than one man loving another man that when people are told "you must accept me now" they get totally turned off. Let alone all the stupid pronouns........don't get me started.
I wish the trans community would get their own flag and quick disrespecting mine.

I don’t even get why people give a shit! Is their lives that empty that have time to hate strangers. My life is so busy I could care less what other people do! And no one is coming for them or their children’.

I respect people can have their own opinion but I don't think it's trans people who are causing this. People who are transgender literally just identify as the gender opposite to their sex. You say "the gay community fought for equal rights and that is just the opposite of the trans community". How? They're fighting for equality also, they want to be in public spaces without be harassed. Gay people are able to use public bathrooms without judgement, trans people are much more at risk. I don't think it's "you must accept me now" it's more like "let me be out in public without being verbally or physically assaulted". As for the pronouns this is what I meant by it's not trans people causing this. Trans people usually just want to be referred to by the pronouns that align with the gender they transitioned to, e.g. he/him or she/her. I think the problem is people who use neopronouns or things like cat/catself, etc. These people however, aren't usually trans.

The only “hate” I see during pride month can be seen above. Heaven forbid you have even a slight difference of opinion with someone. Then you’re labeled as “belonging to a hate group” or being a N*zi or xxx-phobic. For me, it seems the most intolerant people are those who label themselves as warriors for tolerance.

As for the poster above saying that no one is “coming for your children”… that was literally the chant of people parading in NYC a couple days ago. LITERALLY. That’s what they chanted.

I’m a liberal gay dude. Anti-war, pro universal health care, anti-racist, etc. But sweet baby Jesus has the “community” gone off the damned rails. I can’t support it anymore.

For starters, this dramatic talk of Pride month being "filled with so much hate". The only places I have seen any "hate" directed towards Pride month has been on the fringes of the internet. Hardly anyone will say anything openly critical of Pride, at least not in public, nor have I witnessed any made privately offline. All mainstream venues both online and offline openly promote Pride and will censor any dissent. Finally, where "hate" is expressed at the fringes, most of the time it's not real hate, but just edgy humor used to try to open up discussion where everywhere else it's prohibited. So to say society is being inundated with hateful expressions in response to Pride month is totally deluded and hysterical.
So you haven't been online for the past month, that's totally fine if you're uninformed. But let's not ignore the ridiculous amount of laws being aproved that directly affect LGBTQ+ lives negatively, there was one literally aproved yesterday. Let's also not ignore all the companies that due to a little backlash stopped pretending they actually cared about their LGBTQ+ clients and subtracted their support. Let's also not pretend that the rise of homophobia online, accross platforms like tiktok, twitter and instagram, etc, hasn't grown exponentially. If you're uninformed, that's fine, but don't go calling ppl hysterical for being afraid of a very real thing.

At the risk of being attacked or even having this thread blocked, I have a few opinions that may not be appreciated.

What's happened lately politicially isn't good and respresents some steps back in progress.

Corporations primarily took over Pride Month to sell merchandise, which doesn't bother me, but people should remember its about money more than support.

My background is public health and I actually think it's not a bad thing to have a person under 18 wait to receive the medical aspect of gender affirming care. Reason being there is still too many unanswered questions about the longer term implications.

It's a weird time to be in America.

I will risk it to express my opinion.

1. The pronoun thing is a pure nonsense. Gender and sex is intertwined and the idea of infinite gender is absurd.

2. Homos are triggered very easily and hates the opposites opinions more than anyone else. They only want to hear what they believe in.

3. Before pointing finger to the mainstream society, point fingers at whatever happening in recent years. Drag shows with kids involved, sexual nudity in front of kids, promoting sexual books in kindergarten, wth are these!

4. These LGBTQ+whatever people are never willing to sit for a constructive logical debate.

5. The idea of TRANS is still a vague idea and pretty sure even the Trans don't know what it means.

6. All these homos are pro-nature when it's about environment but anti-nature when you begin to talk about biology.

Don't expect the mainstream society to accept you when you are not sure what exactly you are fighting for. Labeling people 'homophobic' is not going to win you anything.
