I think the "dystopian society" angle is the same, but these children are pitted against one another not on the basis of age as was key in Logan's Run, nor does Logan feature them killing one another for sport. I won't say this idea is completely original, but it's Unique enough.

I'm sure that there are many differences. But the underlying premise of young people having to die for the benefit of tbe greater society and subsequent "chase" when some members rebel, seems similar.

Uh, Battle Royale?

The books were amazing, but I'm not too sure how they can pull off some scenes as the books are very gorey and there quite a bit of nudity in some scenes. I personally think there should be a PG-13 and R versions because I don't want to here all the wining from the high school girls and their boyfriends. "I'VE BEEN WAITING TO SEE THIS MOVIE SOO LONG I LOVE YOU JOSH! THANKS FOR TAKING ME!" That's why I go see twilight during the day. I just want to watch the movie not listen to what happened at school today, and "how bad the casting is". But I'm FANBOYING. OMG I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT.

I did not like it... but I think Jennifer Lawrence is going to be a big star someday. I enjoyed Lenny Kravitz I wish he would do more movies.

The book was bad. Poorly written, trite, and the characters were one-sided and not well thought-out.

It was better when I read it fifteen years ago as "Battle Royale". (Which also, by the way, was a decent pulp fiction movie out of Japan as well.) The number of similarities between Battle Royale and Hunger Games is simply too high to be a coincidence, in my opinion.

All of that said, I could actually see this bad book becoming quite a good movie. It's getting good reviews, so I imagine it did. I doubt I'll see it in the theater, but I am a bit interested and can definitely see how it would make a good film if done well (which it appears to have been).
