The Leather Thread

A pleasure missing from the last few years is just seeing regular bikers riding in leather. I get that leathers are a bit shit in a rainstorm and they aren't much better in high summer and maybe some riders were waiting for something more practical to be invented but does anyone think "Right, I'm off for a ride, let's jump into the abbraisian resistant polyester!"

Living in an urban area it gets hot, and I wear orange because drivers out here don't pay attention. My pants and jacket are mesh that allows the air to go right through them, but they also have body armor in them in the unfortunate event that I go down.

Some guys I ride with wear the 1/2 helmets and leather vests. Others ride in jeans and tank tops. I just can't take that risk. While I used to look quite decent when I was younger, age is catching up with me, and I really don't want to add scars to the mix if I go down while on the bike.

You are absolutely right, there nothing hotter than seeing a genuine leather clad biker straddling a big machine on the road - very distracting when youre driving!

I have leathers. I only wear them when I'm either on a short trip in town, or in a parade. Not only are they hot, but I don't like that chaps don't offer protection to the groin or butt. If the bike goes down, and I'm sliding on the asphalt, those are two very sensitive areas I'd like protected.
