Jess couldn't believe her actions with her boss once she began to drive down the road. He was married, that is what she kept thinking of. What was she thinking? She vowed to never let it happen again, no matter how turned on she got. She hoped she could control it next time, she was sure he would try it again anyway. After all, they would be around each other many more times, just hopefully not alone together.
She enjoyed her next few weeks off. She had absolutely nothing to do. She and Cullen stayed around the house many days. They spent time outside. It was nice and relaxing. She tried not to think of any men. It seemed to work well too. She stayed busy and didn't miss being with one much at all. She knew volleyball would be starting soon. Actually, she had just a short 10 days off before she was going to have practice with her team before they went to camp.
The day arrived for her to start practice for team camp. Jess was excited to see what their season would be like this year. She had high hopes. She had many starters returning. She expected big things. She was back to getting busy. Volleyball was starting and in a few weeks, school would be starting. She hadn't even made time to get her classroom ready. She was hoping to take her son somewhere for a trip, but once again, time got away from her and that was impossible.
Ball camp came and went. It went well, they finished in a solid third place out of the thirty-some teams. Jess was impressed, but also cautious about areas they needed to improve on. She was pleased that they had another week off to enjoy before real practice began. It would give her more time to think on everything. Those ten days moved fast and before she knew it summer was almost over.
Practice soon began. It went very well. Jess had 24 girls out for the sport this season. It made everyone work harder. Her first day of practice, she dropped Cullen off at his great-grandmas on her way to the gym. She knew it wouldn't be fair to him to be stuck in a hot gym for nearly 4 hours. Besides, her husband's grandma enjoyed spending time with him and she was always such an important part of her deceased husbands life, and Jess wanted Cullen to feel the love she gave him.
Practice finished. Jess waited for each girl to leave. Her and her assistant coach, Hannah, talked for a little bit after. Hannah was a little over 40 years old. She was a decent athlete in high school. She was married to her high school sweetheart. They had two sons together. One had just graduated high school and the other was a few years younger. Jess enjoyed having someone to help her challenge and motivate the girls. She really liked having someone to run ideas with to. They finished their chat and got into their cars. They headed out of the parking lot in different directions.
Jess was about 10 miles from home when her car started to pull. It was making a loud noise too. It seemed like she had a flat. She almost didn't even want to stop to check. But she did anyway. Sure enough, it was very low, basically flat. She was upset. She definitely didn't know how to change a tire. She was ready to cry. She grabbed her cell phone after she parked her car along side the highway. She scrolled thru the numbers trying to find help. Finally, she went back and called Hannah's number. She knew Hannah was going to work, but hopefully, she knew someone would could help. Jess crossed her fingers.
Hannah answered the phone. Jess told her what was going on. Jess asked if she could think of anyone to help. Hannah let her know that her husband Danny was off at work, but she would see if one of her sons was around to help. I will call you back ok, and before Jess could reply, she had hung up. Not even a few minutes later, Jess's phone rang. It was a number she didn't have set up in her phone. Hesitantly, she answered it.
It was Hannah's son Jax. She was relieved to hear that he would be able to help her. He brought an air tank. He put air in it. Then he ordered her to drive his pickup and follow him in his car. Jess did as Jax was very matter of fact. She followed him and he drove to her house. She was a bit surprised that he knew where she lived, she just assumed his mom had told him maybe. It didn't matter, at least they made it back and could get her tire fixed.
Jess stared at Jax as he got out of her car. he was kind of short, maybe 5'9. He was tan. He was definitely athletic like his parents. He seemed smart too Jess thought. He was going to go off to college and get into health care somehow. He was wearing a cut off t-shirts. It showed off his athletic build and his muscles. He had on a ball cap and nike baggy shorts. Jess found her self thinking of how attractive he was and if she were younger, she would definitely take notice of him.
