It should have ended with Johnny Carson. Leno is terrible but the worst thing the Tonight Show ever did was end Conan Obriens career. "Late Night with Conan Obrien" was the best. then he took over the republican-run tonight show, didnt do well, and now is shafted to TBS. So he lost both shows within a year. I cant repect the tonight show just for ruining Conans career like that. Jimmy Fallon is already Jay Lenos shadow im sure he will do well. Hes good at hawking Capital One im sure he will fit right in.

My opinion, but I think we're talking oranges and apples here. Jimmy has many talents besides his hosting abilities. He is a comedian, singer, impersonator, etc. None of the late night show hosts are/were talented, including Johnny, Jack Paar, David Letterman and especially Conan. Their guests made them popular. I look forward to Jimmy's entertainment.

I think the whole term "talk show" needs to be changed. It was fun watching Johnny Carson when I was a little because of the guests. Even the skits were funny. When Leno would guest host he was pretty good, but when he became permanent host he was awful. I just didn't like the new format.

I like Letterman just ok. Sometimes the foolishness gets on my nerves. Haven't watched enough of Fallon to form an opinion. Every so often I'll catch Kimmel, and he's just ok as well.

I guess I'm not into late night fare anymore. If it's not on HGTV it's probably not on.

I think Jimmy Fallon is a comedic genius, and he's great as a host. He always seems to get his guests to do something you wouldn't expect of them. His show is good no matter who the guest is, plus he's got The Roots. I'm glad he's moving to the earlier time.

The only other late night show I've ever liked was Conan when he had Andy Richter. I thought they worked very well off of each other. Still not near as good as Fallon.

I occasionally liked Leno.
Never understood O'Brien he spends too much time posturing and tries too hard to appear funny....he's not funny.

I detest Fallon and hope he flops, goes belly up in the ratings and is never seen or heard from again.

When Johnny Carson permanently retired from late night television so did I. I have had attempts at watching the various replacements. The only late night show I find entertaining at all is Craig Ferguson simply because he is different and at least not boring.

Leno always seemed pretentious, Conan O'Brien and the rest never did it for me simply because while a few found these people interesting I as a whole did not.

Maybe some day there will be a really great late night personality in general. It is one of the most difficult spots in television. Many very talented people have tried this and flopped badly. People who did not make it include Joan Rivers, Don Rickles, and a host list of some of Hollywood's best.

In this spot no disgrace in failure.

If it's a toss up between the two,I'd chose Jay Leno.Conan is too much...he never seems to know when to SHUT UP...kinda reminds me of Johnathan Ross.

I think they should kill the The Tonight Show name and just move Late night with Jimmy Fallon down a slot. It's moving to New York anyway so all the Tonight Show production people will be losing the jobs. It's not like Jimmy is moving to L.A.
