The reality is that there are dozens of reasons why he was chosen for this role that don’t have anything to do with his dick, and the filmmakers thought this scene needed nudity narratively/cinematically speaking (it did), and either he didn’t want to show his real dick or they wanted a specific size to be impressive enough for the scene, or the studio has a policy to make their set as un-sexual and simulated as possible (could be the case after MeToo), so they made it work in a way that navigated all that.
There’s also a big contradiction in what you’re saying: if that many people believe the prosthetics are real and it strikes a debate about the authenticity of the nudity, then the prosthetics are actually not that bad - they’re not good enough for you Mr Dick Expert, or for me, but they’re good enough for a lot of people, good enough for the shot to work and make the story work.
To be honest we’re probably a couple years away (if not less) from just having entirely CGI genitals on screen to protect most actors’ modesty. It’s not “authentic”, but it’s no different than the rest of movie magic - including lighting, camera tricks, stunt doubles etc.
Well it's expected its prosthetic if u watched season 1. I remember reading an interview that the creator Mike White prefers that. Idk why coz the actors are willing to go frontal lmao.
