Throughout the entire second season of The White Lotus, viewers wondered if James’ character, Cameron, and Will Sharpe’s character, Ethan, would end up hooking up in the series. Despite being introduced as friends from college, there appeared to be a sexual tension between the two of them that could only be resolved with some next-level “bromance.”
This week, James spoke to Variety while attending the 2023 SAG Awards and was asked about whether or not his character was going to have sex with Sharpe’s. The actor teased:
“They cut the sex scene. It began in a kind of romantic way but then it gets very carnal, but Mike decided to cut it. No, I’m joking! There was no sex scene.” -theo james

Anyone who was the show knows there was no sexual tension. Theo's character was all about securing the bag and being frat boyish with his former college friend. There was a love hate relationship there. The sexual tension was more between the spouses. Sort of like a wife swap situation.
lol ive watched the show three times both seasons and there was sexual tension between them
even the director mike and theo both said theo couldve been BI, i am going to take mike whites words over your words since hes the one creating the show. a lot of things were left open to the audience to interpret scenes, we never saw harper and theo actually hook up - but a lot of us infer they did.
we never explicitly saw daphne and ethan have sex but we assume they did.
after the bed scene when theo said " i want to be inside of you" - its open to the audience to interpret that and if some of us want to think there was something sexual between them in college or that there was a possibility of them being attracted to each other, then thats for each viewer to interpret. theres a deleted scene where cam calls ethan "babe" and touches his back. when he said "youre a good looking guy, ID DO YA" - i dont think its that farfetched for ppl to think theres some level of attraction there. theo is the type who would do anything to secure the bag, i could see him having sex with a man if he was offered something in return.
theres some people out there who say cam and harper never did anything other than the kiss, but i think its obvious they prolly did do oral and were in the process of having actual sex before ethan tried to bust down the doors. theres no right or wrong in the show, a lot of things are left to the viewers imagination and thats what makes it so great.
The kiss when they were getting drunk and high with the hookers? That the kiss that has boundless passion filled meanings?

you must not be familiar with bro culture since you are 100% gay. I understand the need to project on to the characters in the hope of wanting something gay to happen. Cameron strikes me as sexually fluid and a sex addict. He will have sex with anyone. Ethan not so much. My point was there was no sexual tension as it would mean both were sexually interested in each other. Ethan saw Cameron as a friend. Mike was doing fan service. He was throwing gay viewers peanuts. In the end, nothing sexual happened. Mike could have made it happen if he wanted to in the series. Lets not delve too much into what couldve happened and go by the actual series and what was shown on tv.

hahahahahh so by that logic harper and cam didnt have sex and ethan and daphne didnt have sex, since we never explicitly see them do anything on screen, it was just assumed.
i have seen locker room talk, i have plenty of straight male friends who joke around, never do they lay in bed with each other and say "i want to be inside of you, i want to make you feel good".
mike white knew what he was doing when he added in that scene in the bed - and whats good is this show is FICTION, its not real, a lot of things are left to the imagination - THATS WHATS GREAT ABOUT FICTIONAL DRAMAS. Whether u agree so or not, there are plenty of viewers who agreed that cam and ethan had some sort of attraction. you can disagree, but thats your prerogative and no one is forced to think the same way as you.
mike white is bisexual himself and lives with his BF, so him creating a bromance that has undertones of bisexual energy is kind of expected at this point.
I don’t think you know what sexual tension actually means; it’s not tantamount to conscious sexual interest from both parties. Mike White’s whole thing was that he wanted to play up the ambiguity and shifting power dynamics of all these relationships, and that includes budding tension between the characters that makes the viewer wonder if the characters might cross boundaries or if anything has happened between them in the past.
There was no sexual tension between the two. There was some sexual tension between Harper and Cam.
EXACTLY thats what makes the show amazing is so many characters could have crossed the line with one another even if it wasnt explicitly shown on screen.
the scene with cam and ethan on the jet skiis
the scene where cam kisses ethan several times while theyre with the two sex workers
the scene where cam says "youre a good looking guys, i would do ya"
the scene where harper asks them if theyve had sex in the same room in college and they both look sus
the bed scene where cam says "i wanna be inside of you, i wanna make you feel good"
the outtake where cam is orders him a drink, and ethan gets mad and asks if he can order his own drinks, cuz cam keeps ordering for him - and cam says im sorry "baby", and he touches his back
theres just too many scenes where theres sexual undertones. just cuz we didnt see them explicitly have sex or make out, doesnt mean there wasnt a history or possibility.
we didnt see harper/cam or daphne/ethan have sex but it is assumed by the audience that they did.
theres so much ambiguity in the show, like with tanyas husband and that old rich gay dude - we never found out if they were in cahoots to kill her, but the mystery of these characters is what makes the show so great cuz ppl can interpret it in a million different ways.
Why would the Italians try to kill her if the husband wasn't involved?
