Thoughts on nofap

I've been seeing a huge rise of this nofap movement. I'm not seeing a lot of science foe it. I do agree that too much of anything is bad. Porn. Masturbation, smoking, eating. Everything in moderation. But I'd love for a thread on this topic. I wanna hear from the masses!

With regard to prostate health. I think nature will take care if itself: wet dreams if a man needs to ejaculate. The studies I’ve seen don’t show proof that ejaculation is necessary for prostate health.

My own theory is that excessive masturbation might feed a person’s craving for dopamine and whatever other hormones are released through orgasm. It might also be a self-medicating way to deal with stress, anxiety, depression, etc.

I don’t know whether it’s an addiction. It doesn’t seem to rise to the level of a nicotine, or heroin, or alcohol addiction.

Porn can also lead to a massive time-suck if you’re susceptible to it.

I don't think you can masturbate too much unless you are causing physical damage or pain, or your habit keeps you from doing other important things or socializing. For example, if you skip work to masturbate all day, that's probably a sign of a problem. Same if you are out with friends and leave so that you can go home and masturbate.

I do think porn can be harmful, especially excessive porn. And the more unrealistic the porn is, the more harmful it can be, too a point. I think that a NoPorn movement would have more positive effects for the participants than NoFap.

I think masturbation can be addictive and so can porn. It's very hard to compare addictions to these things with things like nicotine, heroin, alcoholism, because they don't have the very apparent downsides, people don't die from a porn overdoses. That doesn't mean that the addiction is any less strong. I have at times been addicted to nicotine and alcohol which are supposedly the most difficult addictions to break. I have quit both of these things, and find it much more difficult, at times, to stop masturbating, and I don't believe its something I could ever stop completely.

Supposedly ejaculating 30 times a month of more is good for prostate health, but there are a lot of factors that could effect that and I hear that statistic a lot without hearing the actual methods behind determining it. I think its a statistic that is amusing and obviously leaves some room for jokes, so guys are happy to propagate the results of the study. I don't know if they considered things like age, history of cancer, behaviors that are linked to cancer like smoking. And like Twoton said, if there is a real need to ejaculate it the body will regulate that, either through nocturnal emissions or through the strength of the urge. 30 seems like an arbitrary number, but I do my part to try and keep myself close to that rate.

I definitly agree with all these thoughts. I'm kind of on the noporn wagon or less porn. Definitely everyone wants to hit the pleasure button almost too much til it's worn away. I'm making an effort not hit pleasure every single day and not from outside sources. My partner or toys may be best. Find better ways to keep my sexual release active but not addictive

Porn could be warping if you believed it to be Normal/Real.
But who does ?

I think masturbating is just something natural. All it really boils down to is evolution and the fact that we have this need to move genes. I am one who's masturbated his whole life. Though I think it becomes an unhealthy addiction(and doesn't feel as good) when you masturbate out of depression and what not. Even having sex too much is bad in the exact same manor. And If you are craving orgasm 6 times a day and unless you have an addiction it probably means you are bored and need to basically if I can be frank but not too spite SPEND LESS TIME ON LPSG AND GET A LIFE;)

Since I started this thread. I hadn't masturbated or ejactulated since. I did take care of that last night. I want to test how I felt. It was amazing. My cock through that time hung heavier. Was constantly getting erect randomly. My erections were much stronger and I felt more confident. I don't completely agree with no fap but I feel like it is more akin to intermittent fasting. Also allowing myself to just enjoy my cock and balls and the erection without the weird addiction to finish it quickly. While I'll never stop masturbating I think allowing myself to not more often will be better for me. I put this on here in case anyone else was curious and I'm open to message if anyone would like

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Over the past few weeks I took a break from masturbation as well, only because it was inconvenient to do it with everything I had to do around the holidays. Over two and a half weeks I only masturbated twice, which is much less than usual. When I did masturbate it was pretty intense and my cum shot out with more force than it had in a long time and there was much more than usual.

Things have gotten back to normal so I'm on my regular schedule again, but I've been thinking about trying to space it out more so I can enjoy it more.

I would recommend it. Coming from a daily cummer like me. I'm doing my best to hold off. But I know it's worth it

coming from a psychological issue; porn can become a problem. It fires certain brain receptors that you don’t get during normal intercourse. But agreed on the prostate not beating off can be bad for some men

I want to try to nofap movement. Officially started 3/13. I don't have sex regularly but I'm a really horny guy in my opinion. So I was cumming twice a day in the morning when I walk up and before bed. I don't think it was excessive but I'm interested to see if there are any positives. I'm also interested to see if I'll start having wet dreams.

I used to only Jack off or fuck around on the weekends. I didn’t consider that no fap.

Decided to abstain for the week since I've been spending too much time wanking / on sites like this. I think afterward I'll go back to masturbating most days, but I'm going to cut down on porn and maybe stick to pictures instead of videos whenever I do look at some.

In my "fascination" with men in prisons (some prisons like federal do not allow masturbation), I have read about wide differences in men who don't, or can't jerk off. It is my general assumption from reading testimonies from men, the amount of sex drive and ejaculate a man produces varies widely and has a large effect on how difficult it is for a man to abstain. Some men do say after a while (several weeks) it seems to be easier to abstain from masturbation and ejaculation and experience little discomfort. However, other men who are highly sexed and used to frequent outlets have a very difficult time with the masturbation restrictions, and are usually caught or punished trying to sneak some relief. Other men have reported serious prostate trouble with sudden abstinence and require treatment or medications. One young man who produced a lot of semen, could not just cut back because of extreme tension and finding ways to dispose of his large loads (some prisons have a "damage to state property rule if semen is discovered), and was forced into complete sexual abstinence and explained how difficult it was for him to learn. I of course would love hear from men about this subject more.

I have quite jerking recently just because. No real reason. I've lost the desire to jerk off on a regular basis. My GF is having back and feet problems so sex has been off the table for several weeks. It's been two full weeks since I have unloaded.

I used to go on hunts for real porn, actual couples filming themselves, not the made up stuff that mainstream porn producers put out. It's all so fake and off-putting. I use to belong to a few Flickr groups where people share private pics and short vids. I've lost interest in all of it.

I haven’t masterbated in about 5 months. I only fuck my girlfriend and her friends when she brings them by for fun. The biggest benefits I’ve noticed is increased sexual prowess, I attract people more, more evergy, and intense orgasms. The point of nofap is to go have real experiences. If you have consistent sex it’s worth it!

I don't think no fap needs to be long term, permanent however, for some sex addicts no fap is used as a form of recovery.

No fap for me, means take a break. I've gone 31 days. It is a nice discipline, therapeutic experience to focus energies elsewhere. Porn & jerking will still be there after 15 - 30 days. Try it.

I love my cock too much. I don’t let it take over my life but I jerk off every day when I have free time. It’s my dick and it needs to be pleasured. I find it a stress reliever also
