hi, i was reading an article about anderson cooper and andy cohen on of course, the Huffington Post... but cooper said that "it would surprise people to know that Andy is a top."

why is that "surprising"? when someone is a top or a bottom, what does that reveal or say about their sexual preferences? their personality?

thanks!

I think he was joking. First, most guys that do anal do both positions at least every now and then. Second, which position you do says NOTHING about your personality. There are people who are aggressive go getters in all other aspects of their lives who are passive bottoms in the bedroom; the opposite is also true. The most feminine, ladylike guy I ever hooked up with gave me perhaps the best pounding I ever got (thank you, Andrew, if you're reading this!). And third, I doubt Anderson Cooper would seriously reveal such information, even if true. He was just having fun.

ok. but even if it's a joke. i don't get it. so i guess i was trying to understand the joke even. to get the joke assumes some level of knowledge about gay sex i guess. thanks!

Ivsxy808...I'm sure you are saying that in jest.......but if not...
well...I say.....
Not all Gay/Bi men are bottoms....or for that matter...even bottom some of the time..
I am a top...but I have to say that being a bottom, in no way says that...if they are a bottom...they are not just as masculine as a top.

Some are just not into being a bottom.... That's No Problem, as far as I can tell, with most!!
It's certainly not with me...

I think there's a lot of nonsense talked about all of this.

But, basically, the "received wisdom" ( geddit  ) or let's just call it the 'standard theory' is that there is a male role ( "top" ) which is doing the penetration in gay sex, and a "female" role which is being pentrated ( the "bottom" ). So, a lot of people assume the more masculine or straight acting, or even just the taller of two men will be the top, and the more gentle, down to earth, maybe shorter, passive seeming one will be bottom.

That's not even close to being a rule in reality. I'm something lke 90% top despite being 5'7". I wouldn't say I'm effeminate but I'm not really particularly butch either. Real life gay people understand that people are people - not characters or roles or ciphers.

I can't say I've never been surprised to find out who does what in a relationship. But I've also not really ever taken it too seriously ... It simply cannot matter to anyone who isn't in the room...

Could just be that Andy has the bigger dick? :biggrin1:
