While Don Cornelius says they were a recent addition to the family singing business, the fact of the matter is these brothers and sisters were performing professionally for 12 years at this point. Opening for Ray Charles and Johnny Mathis, appearing on “Make Room for Daddy” and the Groucho Marx show, this family appeared on the scene more than a decade before “Diana Ross discovered the Jackson Five.”
And they could out-sing those guys any day of the week.
These unsung artists just got the short end of the stick.

Adorned with Hawaiian leis, LIVE from the King Kamehameha ballroom at some Waikiki resort is Engelbert Humperdinck. Warning: This melodic love ballad is not a "guy" song, it's aimed directly at a woman's heart and (a little lower) at her womanhood. Back in school no male like myself would ever admit listening to a song like this.

But guess what? Recently I put a Bose headset on and listened to this YouTube version. Humperdinck has a fabulous backup orchestra and singers! I've decided that after you down a couple of Mai Tais, this is one heck of a great-sounding concert number for couples. You might even get lucky with your wife tonight after she listens to it.

Very local guy to me, who's from Leicester, UK.

One of my all time faves of his, is this, which myself and a number of workmates at the Carpet Shop often used to sing :D

One fine day in 1973, Karen Carpenter's silky smooth abbreviated cover version of The Chiffons original hit One Fine Day reached listeners ears. Back then, young radio DJs and Carpenters fans who couldn't recall the original version thought it was such a great melodic song, it should have been longer than 1:39. In a stroke of serendipity, all around the country local girl bands like "Darlene & Her Daring Dolls" used it as a closing tune prior to a break. "To everyone here at the Holiday Inn-Kalamazoo, we're going to take a short break..." 🎤🎶

It's said a person begins showing their age when they start saying "you don't hear great music like this anymore!" I'm beginning to think that way.
