1)---it totally depends on what you will be packing in those jeans
2)---and what plans you might have for unpacking it

If you are packing a lot and have some bush, that zipper can be an evil friend.

Consider a button front or briefs if access is an issue.

I would say commando with button front jeans is a standard. It is a good bet that if the top button is open, it will get you a lot more attention than the bulge made by that roll of socks in your pocket.
