Wasn't the wide waist band supposed to help with abdominal muscle support? I find that the 3" waist band stays in place better which makes it more comfortable for me.

View attachment 204054211That seems unlikely to me. It's not so large that it'd provide support in a meaningful way... altho I now recall they manufactured a jock with a SIX-inch "waist" band, which looks ridiculous. I suppose a waistband that large might offer some ab support.
