weight gain accelerated

And how much exercise is she getting daily, without some type of physical activity she can count calories all day and not lose weight. Switch to a plant based diet and I guarantee she will lose weight and begin to see a decrease in any medical issues. Check out the documentary "Fat, Sick and nearly Dead" by Joe Cross and it will change your eating habits. Fat Sick and Nearly Dead | a Joe Cross Film

The calorie counting is worthless. It'd only be valuable if our metabolisms stayed steady; they don't.

Cellular reception is very important. If you are insulin resistant then starving yourself won't do anything. Hell if you were low on vitamin b5 you'd go into a stanstill.

My own mother ate 1000 calories a day for a couple months, didn't lose weight, didn't cheat at all. She was doing her full time job and everything.

I'll say it again, the work of Dr. D'Adamo covers everything mentioned in this thread. It's better than just take pharmaceuticals because the lifestyle heals the body, not gains a dependance. Feel free to pm me for free guidance on it.

To help weight loss in some people you need to build up cellular health. The bet way is to have a combination of things. First you need the building blocks, omega 3's mostly. Next you want things that help process them like lecithin because it helps digest it and process in the liver. Lastly to make sure it happens and well, something to incur autophagy (cellular maintenance); because it's inhibited by everything basically as we age or health decline or blood sugar, everything seems to but you can trigger it with a supplement. Once you've done that for awhile then the body will be functioning correctly instead of being resistant.

But you still need to eat and exercise right. For some they need animal protein and intense exercise to stimulate thyroid. Other people need to lower stress to get theirs on track; which means stress relieving exercise, not intense stuff. It's different from person to person. I wish it wasn't so because I would have lost a lot more weight when I'd be at 1000 calorie deficit or better most the week when exercising hard. But I just got unhealthy instead; I worked harder than most people I've ever met and only lost a couple of pounds despite doing it for a long time.

It looks like there's probably a wheat sensitivity. After however many days it was, she had a few bits of pie crust and had "issues" the next day. She's wondering if a Celiac test is in order.

In terms of exercise, she can manage several brisk walks (about 45 minutes) per week. She's had chronically bad ankles and Achilles tendinitis for years, which really impedes her.

The doctor hasn't been much help, but they both realize her weight is becoming a health issue (or will) so there may be more motivation for more intervention on his part.

I think she had her thyroid tested years ago, and the result was 'borderline,' but not enough to do anything about at the time.

She eats mostly vegetarian, but isn't strict about it.

And now has hunger and headaches nearly every day. So far, though, she's committed to sticking with it.

She tried "south beach" style in the past. After two weeks of being miserable with it, she hadn't lost a pound.

Fruit is full of sugar. A healthy diet should have absolutely minimal carbs, with lots of protein, fiber and fat. Yes, fat! Cut out the carbs, other than fat, and see the weight fall away. Veggies, meat (with fat!), salad, fish, chicken, nuts, etc but less fruit, no wheat, corn, rice, spuds, pasta. Use Stevia to sweeten food (or a bit of honey if you must). Oats is good for breakfast, or bacon, eggs, cheese, but no bread with that. Don't go hungry, otherwise you binge. Eats lots of small meals or snacks, but of the right food. Some excercise will help, no need to run marathons or gym 7 times a week. Walking, cycling, swimming, anything to boost metabolism. Also building a bit of muscle will help to burn off the small amount of carbs we cannot avoid.

Stop counting calories. That has never worked. Its a fallacy. Fat has the highest of all calories, but most of it passes straight through the body and out again so its of no consequence. Stop weighing yourself on a scale. Use your mirror to judge your progress. If you build muscle, you will weigh more even if you look slimmer and look/feel better.

Sometimes the body has to heal before you are going to get weight loss.

If she's blood type O then it's certain the vegetarian style is going to be killing her off.

But unlike Cyrusv4 I don't condone switching to a no-carb high protein and fat diet unless you know it's going to work. I've actually been down that road, and it only leads to being very unhealthy and miserable for me. My genotype simply cannot do it, it doesn't work for me. If it did, I promise the way more diligent healthy approach I took would have been successful. It's just easy to take out all the guess work and do it right to begin with.

By the way pork products make the human body antibody activity increase (allergies etc) because it appears like a foreign invader. That's the reason why a piggy valve transplant requires immune suppressants until it gets acclimated with your own system. Luckily eating pork isn't a part of your body so the reaction isn't as violent, but it still happens. It appears all those religions were onto something, religious or not, with the banning of pork.

Feel free to PM me. Headaches are not fun.

I posted here before about my wife's struggles with her weight.

Well, here's a real humdinger. She's been having problems with her stomach for weeks, and the symptoms seem to be consistent with an intolerance for wheat.

About two weeks ago she stopped eating wheat. Her stomach issues appear to be slowly clearing up, but it's not conclusive yet.

In the meantime, she's gained 4 pounds! In two weeks. And yes, she's writing down every bit of what she eats. (she is a research engineer--there's no question about her ability to record data)

Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

FYI, it's not as if she's a petite woman who is trying to maintain an unreasonably low weight. She's 5'6" and weighs around 225# or possibly more. Her diet consists of a lot of fruit and vegetables.
Can you offer more of her precise diet and medications.

I am no doctor - I abandoned my studies after realizing my income would be largely based on the pharmaceuticals I prescribed which I believe betray the Hippocratic oath, and embraced holistic healing.
