Looking to you guys for some proper motivation to lose weight. I am 52 and easily 60+ lbs overweight. I workout regularly, but as you get older, it's difficult to keep motivation for your goals. What do you guys do for motivation, promises from your partner, health issues? I need to get something to get me on track, wish the misses would promise some rewards, but I'm looking elsewhere. Would love some help.

Set small goals. Cut 100 calories a day, or replace lunch with a healthy protein shake.

Move a little more. Just get up every thirty minutes and move for five.

I usually set little goals and give myself something when I hit one, like grabbing some new workout gear or treating myself to a good meal that doesn’t wreck my progress.
Also, I know a few people who’ve added supplements into the mix and swear it’s helped. If you’re thinking about going that route, just make sure it’s solid stuff. For example, a lot of folks I know trust steroidscanada.is for quality products that actually deliver.

Cutting out processed foods is the quickest way to lose weight IMO. Meats, veggies, even dairy are basically fine. But once you dip into pastries and cereal and on-the-go meals — the weight comes with it.

You could probably lose weight by eating 1g of protein per pound of lean body mass and stopping when you are full.

Pasta is good though.

Just remember it is about love. Love your body more than you love the indulgent foods. And you may choose to indulge sometimes. It’s okay. Food is good. But it doesn’t control you.

Do intermittent fasting. Honestly, it really is a game changer and it's what helped me get to my current level of leanness.

I did IF during the covid lockdowns when gyms were closed and I still lost weight. Went from 94 kg to 78 kg in slightly over a year.

Eat less.
Drink lots of water and black coffee.
Move around more.

I was at 240. Dropped to 195 using the above, and achieved that in the fall of 2020. I've since put 20 back on, and I blame it on WFH and less moving-around. It's too easy to snack when I WFH, but I am trying to to make amends and get down to 190 by summer.

Eat less, move more, be consistent.

Working out helps, but it's really about the food and moving/walking. The only time I've ever been overweight was during COVID and I gained nearly 50lbs, it was bad. I still did regular scheduled workouts at home during those years, but I was basically at home all day eating crap and playing video games.

Hey Curious -

I've been into exercise for a long time and here are some of the things I've learned over the years when it comes to losing weight.

You'll want to set some realistic goals. Try to lose weight gradually - about 1 -2 pounds per week. Also look for things you can maintain and stick with. Don't try quick fixes.

Modify your diet -

Eat a balanced diet that's filled with fruits, veg, whole grains and lean protein. You can also supplement your diet with whey proteins. A few shakes between meals will help fill you up and give you muscle building protein while exercising. Try to avoid processed foods, excess sugar and unhealthy fats.

Exercise Regularly - one of my favorites -

You'll want to try to perform about 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise each week.

Incorporate strength training exercises to build muscle mass. Muscle acts like a furnace when it comes to burning fat. Having more muscle helps you burn more excess fat.

Make sure you get enough sleep. You'll want to aim for between 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep every night. Lack of sleep can disrupt the hormones that regulate appetite and your metabolism.

Try to find healthy ways to manage your stress. Try exercising, meditation or breathing exercises to help stay calm and focused.

Drink LOTS of water throughout the day. By staying properly hydrated, you can help reduce hunger and help maintain and control your metabolism.

You may want to consider joining a weight loss group or speaking with a registered dietitian. Their support and skill can help you stay on track and they can help you create a diet that's healthy and will help you with your weight loss goals.

You can also take some additional steps that can help with losing weight.

  • Track your caloric intake and expenditure to monitor progress.
Make small, sustainable changes over time.
Don't give up if you slip up - everybody does. Even I have. Just get back on track and don't beat yourself up.
Be patient and consistent with your efforts. Before long, you'll see results.

Good luck and I hole this helps!
