Went to workout at a YMCA today that had a large long open shower area. Locker room and sauna at one end, and pool entrance and open urinal area at the far end where the showers end. It felt sexy to take the long walk from the shower to the urinal naked and take a piss.

No I don’t agree. UK didn’t used to have the squeamishness about nudity that USA seems to have (and UK is developing). Holborn Oasis is run by a local council (Camden) and was built to serve the needs of the local community. It has been modified many times and even has its own Wikipedia page Oasis Sports Centre, London - Wikipedia

What is missing is recent modifications, presumably because in central London there just isn’t the space. The locker room and shower design is the norm of the 1980s. They all used to be like this in UK. This was absolutely normal.

A little history of the US as I am older. We used open showers back in the day. Showering after gym class at school was the norm. Some gyms even had the Bradley pole showers. Then a kid gets major anxiety about the lack of privacy when taking a shower. Complains to parents and the ACLU takes the case and a lawsuit against the school follows. The school has to change their shower policy since they cannot afford the huge legal fees to defend themselves. This and other lawsuits result in what we have today.

Absolutely crazy now with the towel dance and guys afraid just to change their clothes in the locker room. I agree with the other post that there seems to be a bond among guys that shower together. I think back to my college days. We were like a big fraternity that looked out for each other.

I think lots of younger guys have anxiety now due to porn etc and the images of huge cocks, feeling they won't measure up. As you get older you get over that. I’m not saying you said this so please don’t take it as an attack; but it’s crazy that the current “older generation” on one side in America is so scared of gay/ trans/ “guys in girls locker rooms” etc. that they are the ones pushing for all the things to be banned/ shamed. When they had their cocks out in front of other guys way more than my generation.
