This is how all locker rooms and showers should be. It’s easy for cleaning and it saves space. It’s just normal, or what normal should be.8 open showers. Overlooked by the changing room. The Oasis in central London, IYKYK![]()

I see, so it's a matter of being "squeamish." It can't be that guys just want to shower and dress without other guys perving on them. It has to be some form of discomfort with nudity, or that old chestnut <gasp!> homophobia, that causes them to want some degree of privacy from strangers trying to get free, licentious jollies. What next? You're squeamish about sex if you don't let the guy jack off in front of you too? (Don't answer that for fear it turns you on).No I don’t agree. UK didn’t used to have the squeamishness about nudity that USA seems to have (and UK is developing). Holborn Oasis is run by a local council (Camden) and was built to serve the needs of the local community. It has been modified many times and even has its own Wikipedia page Oasis Sports Centre, London - Wikipedia
What is missing is recent modifications, presumably because in central London there just isn’t the space. The locker room and shower design is the norm of the 1980s. They all used to be like this in UK. This was absolutely normal.
There are good reasons for returning to this normality. It’s normal for men to see other men naked. This thread might suggest otherwise but it is mostly not remotely sexual. It’s normal to design facilities to minimise cleaning.
Wait! What? Two different cultures! What an epiphany! So here is an epiphany for you: no one is saying "cock" is a "big deal." You posited that falsehood. I'm saying that you and others on this thread are trying very hard (and unsuccessfully) to condemn men who do not want other men to use them as wank-fodder and justifying your use of male nudity -- preferably that of innocent strangers -- for said wank-fodder. Let it sink in.I think you have just proved that UK and USA are two very different cultures. I think US norms are different and it may well be that an American would be uneasy in Holborn Oasis. I don’t think Brits are all that bothered.
For that matter everyone in UK is used to getting their cock out at a wall urinal. Seeing cock is no big deal.

And the Czechs! Female cleaning staff cleaning up around naked men in the communal shower... All normal. If one is bothered by open showers never ever go to Europe! They don’t give a stuff, heck the Germans have communal nude steam and saunas that all the family go to)

As for US prudishness, what's going on with their toilet cubicles not reaching the ground? For me that's much worse lol...
Fit the benefit of those who may be nearby that gym, whats the exact location?Went to workout at a YMCA today that had a large long open shower area. Locker room and sauna at one end, and pool entrance and open urinal area at the far end where the showers end. It felt sexy to take the long walk from the shower to the urinal naked and take a piss.
A little history of the US as I am older. We used open showers back in the day. Showering after gym class at school was the norm. Some gyms even had the Bradley pole showers. Then a kid gets major anxiety about the lack of privacy when taking a shower. Complains to parents and the ACLU takes the case and a lawsuit against the school follows. The school has to change their shower policy since they cannot afford the huge legal fees to defend themselves. This and other lawsuits result in what we have today.I think you have just proved that UK and USA are two very different cultures. No one said they were bothered by "open showers." You posited that falsehood. The statement was (and, I'll repeat myself) that people "on this thread are trying very hard (and unsuccessfully) to condemn men who do not want other men to use them as wank-fodder and justifying [the] use of male nudity -- preferably that of innocent strangers -- for said wank-fodder." Your post evidences my point. If one is bothered by open showers never ever go to Europe! They don’t give a stuff, heck the Germans have communal nude steam and saunas that all the family go to)

I think lots of younger guys have anxiety now due to porn etc and the images of huge cocks, feeling they won't measure up. As you get older you get over that. I'm a happy naturist and have been to nudist campsites where I've seen hundreds of cocks every day. Big small thick thin, all different, all beautiful.A little history of the US as I am older. Absolutely crazy now with the towel dance and guys afraid just to change their clothes in the locker room. I agree with the other post that there seems to be a bond among guys that shower together. I think back to my college days. We were like a big fraternity that looked out for each other.
I’m not saying you said this so please don’t take it as an attack; but it’s crazy that the current “older generation” on one side in America is so scared of gay/ trans/ “guys in girls locker rooms” etc. that they are the ones pushing for all the things to be banned/ shamed. When they had their cocks out in front of other guys way more than my generation.A little history of the US as I am older. We used open showers back in the day.
