What do you call it?

Different people have different names for things.

For example, what do you call it when you're watching a video and you want to rewatch something that just happened so you hit the arrow pointing left? I believe those are called "seek" buttons, are they not? Yet I usually say "rewind" even though it isn't on tape because I still remember using VHS and cassette tapes. What do you call it when you do that?

When I watched VHS tapes I called it rewind. With DVD's I call it reverse.

On the DVD player, I either "rewind" it, like the days of VHS, or I "bring it back to the part where ... happened."

We normally say 'give them a ring' or 'phone them', lol.
I remember dialling tho, I loved doin it as a kid, haha.

I actually talk like that sometimes.

I do things like say "the machine that washes clothes" and "the machine that washes dishes" because I can't remember which one is supposed to be called the "washing machine." Aren't they both washing machines?

From the days of the cassette players it use to be fast foward and reverse. Not that i've thought about it I always say rewind. Seek to me goes both ways.
