I can't figure it out from context, and I can't find an existing thread explaining it. Does it mean "I agree" or "I like your comment" or "Is anyone out there?" or what??? I can't seem to guess a meaning that makes sense in all the threads I've encountered it.

I'm pretty low-tech, so please excuse my ignorance...and thanks for the help!

It means that you're posting to "bump" the thread to the top of the forum page so that it's seen by more people. Threads are listed by the last posting time, so if no one has posted in a while, the thread can become "dead."

It's usually an attempt to either revive a dead or dying thread or get more views without actually having anything to say about it.

It's not going to die if someone keeps adding to it! Although, I'm a pretty good thread killer.....

Die, thread, die!!!!

It's like LaFemme said, really. It's a lazy way of getting more input or views without actually having to add anything yourself. And most often, it's quite annoying. We have some threads here that had the potential to be really cool, but after pages and pages of nothing but "bump" (often from the same poster) they're stale, and nothing will really be able to revive them. It's sad, really.

Think back in my younger days it meant a bit more fun than that :)
