You proved your point. However, paying tribute to Bowie (or more precisely, Ziggy Stardust) and "ripping off Madonna" are two entirely different things.

His singles and albums lurked around the lower regions of the U.S. Billboard charts, and he pushed the pop-cultural envelope pretty much off the cliff, with his combination of rock music and avant garde theater, his womanly appearance, and his unapologetic enjoyment of sex with men.

Madonna ultimately guided American society to greater acceptance of homosexuality, bisexuality and assertive female sexuality in general, for which she deserves great credit. But at the point in her career where Gaga is now, Madonna, God bless her, was simply a boy-crazy mainstream pop star whose wore underwear on the outside of her clothes.
