I agree, but just a 'math correction':
If two third will be between 5 and 6.5" then not only 2.5% will be over 6.58" but (100-68)/2=16% roughly.
And 2.5% ( +2 sd ) will be over 7.4" and not fewer than 1 on 100.

The math on this one still shocks me. I've come to accept I might be on the larger side, but I still find it hard to believe the real world numbers (and assuming bone-pressed, I'm bigger than 97.5% @ 7.75"). Same can be said for flaccid stats as well, given if the numbers are right, my size soft is potentially bigger than the average erect (5.25" hanging, 6.25" if I press into the fat pad)??

This relative "shock" as you put it, is a result of coming to the realization of what an over-average/big/huge dick actually is in real inches. For decades there has been bullshit about 12,13,14, etc. from the porn industry, outlandish claims and wild exaggerations (ie. John Holmes being 13 inches). So when someone heard something like 8 and a half or 9 or 9 and a half, they think "Ok, well that's big, but it's not that big" because of the complete horseshit pop culture, the porn industry and society as a whole has built up. Anyone can roll their eyes at this if they wish, but I firmly believe that as a whole, penis size is one of the most wildly misunderstood aspects of human culture.

Uh, lol, being neurotic is one thing, exaggerating and stating fantastical measurements is another. The latter is veritably more prevalent in the gay community. At least with regards to this site.
I don't think this site is representative. Selection bias.

A lot of gay men come on this site and just blindly throw out over-exaggerated estimations of penis size because they either did it subconsciously or large penises are part of their fetish fantasies. Don't get me wrong, straight men and women absolutely do this as well, but seems like a lot of gay/bi men do it for the purpose of sexual gratification as opposed to misunderstanding/being unaware.
In a normal distribution it absolutely is. Where did you learn statistics?
