This is disturbing behavior. You are right to feel uncomfortable. You can ignore these characters by clicking on Private Mesaages, located on your profile page, and then click "Ignore" located midway down the left hand margin. There is a window that you fill in to block the person. I have not used this option since I have not been the focus of harrassing messages, so I hope that this works for you.

Being a Southerner I usually being my messages with "Hey....", as you well know. Maybe I will have to reword my address in a message. Hey, Tim, what do you think?
