In the flurry of phone calls yesterday, one of them was from my best friend since age 2 to tell me that his wife had just given birth to baby number FIVE. Yup. 5th kid. Oldest is 15. Yeah - he needs a new hobby. lol.
So today i went to the hospital to visit him, his wife and baby Elizabeth. Beautiful, healthy, perfect baby. They were absolutely as happy and beaming as could be. In the course of the afternoon, my friend's sister (and my ex girlfriend and once a prospective Mrs. of mine) arrived with her 5 week old baby son. And then a couple more friends arrived so we had some champagne and it was a fantastic Sunday afternoon.
I absolutely love kids and am frustrated that things haven't worked out for me to have my own yet, so in lieu of that to get to hold two beautiful, perfect, little babies I was in heaven. And champagne on Sunday afternoons is always a plus too. lol.
My friend - ever dutiful in trying to hook me up so that i could have this familial bliss for myself made suggestions of who i could pair up with. Crazy heiress. Thanks. No. Been there. Done that. Hot girl in Chicago - as much as I would love that, not happening now (or yet at least), OR marry into a local yet international drug cartel family we know.
I think not. And with my absolute refusal of the last option he broke into peels of laughter. Yeah. Thanks. lol.
So tonight i was outside with my dog Boris and the crack-head renters next door had let their dog out without being on a line. Their dog, a beautiful yellow lab (they call 'Kilo' - go figure) was hiding behind a tree in my yard and when i spotted him in the shadows, called him over and he came bounding over at once.
They abuse and neglect him and put him on a chain in the back yard 24/7 with no dog house, no bed, and the other morning when i took Boris out, that poor dog was curled up on the ground and i called out to him repeatedly and it was so cold i thought he had frozen to death in the night. Thankfully, he did wake up and barked hello and good morning.
Tonight was so sad though. When he came over, i knelt down to the ground and he just snuggled right up in between my legs and buried his blocky lab head under my arm and just wagged his tail as i petted him and talked to him.
Those trash people next door piss me off to begin with, but to neglect this beautiful dog really pisses me off. I wanted to bring him in my house for the night and take him to the vet tomorrow and just tell them that he is now MY dog. But of course, he is not my dog. Besides i don't have the money to take on another dog rescue. I just now went outside and decided that if he was still outside, i would bring him in for the night at least. But i called for him and didn't see him so i think they might have let him in for the night.
If i am able to end up with him (which I seriously hope I can somehow manage) i would change his name to 'Ivan'. Then I would have a Boris and and Ivan and have a Russian themed dog name thing going on. lol.
He is the same size as Boris, just white. They look beautiful together and play so well together. I have seldom seen 2 dogs get along so well.
So that was it. All in all, it was a pleasant Sunday filled with friends, babies, champagne and dogs.
