Just Thinking

A very strange situation exists in my life. I had a very best friend. As I was small in stature and he was not, he frequently provided me with protection and cover. He lived a little over a block from my house and had a swimming pool. We both played drums and had a lot in common. We had been friends for multiple years before this one cold and snowy November Saturday afternoon where our friendship changed.

We started playing slowly with each other and gradually worked up to being more adventurous. I have a lot of memories from those times, but the one that popped into my mind and actually pops in often, is how he tasted. I don't know if it was the fabric softener his mother used, or it was just his natural skin taste, but that taste was like an aphrodisiac to me. I can still taste if I think hard enough. I can smell it too. I came to associate that taste and smell with a lot of pleasure. Speaking of pleasure, we still remained friends, but there was a lot more pleasure involved in our friendship.

Time moved forward and we lost track of each other. One day I was on my hometown's Facebook page and he messaged me. Turns out he married and had 4 or 5 children. He was living about an hour away. We had planned to meet each other at the high school his children attended. I got the date wrong and so we missed each other. We never tried again after that, but continued to remain friends. Not friends like the past, but commenting from time to time on each other's posts.

He now lives closer than he did when we first reconnected because, much to my surprise, he divorced his wife and moved away. He said it was because he spent too much time on the road. So many times I have wanted to say something about what we did and how I was grateful for the experience that was never pressured and always fun. I feel that in some ways I do owe him a lot, but if he is straight (which I have doubts about) I would not want to upset him. He posted a picture of him in a hammock from this past weekend. I did ask him if he remembered the swimming pool he had hoping it might trigger something, but it only got a like. What I wouldn't give for one more taste!
