Maybe Useful Guide: Chaturbate/Gay Cams (for Viewers and Cam Models)

Some subjective & objective tips, observations, and comments as a new viewer who isn't great at writing.

What I say may not always be true, there is maybe better sources of information from other cam models.

• Ticket Shows
  • Tickets can be used to get tokens from viewers who wouldn't otherwise tip.
    • It may be easier to get more returning followers with free shows when you are new to camming.
  • It is important to learn how to make ticket shows. Free shows will not be consistent for the vast majority of cam models.
  • Some viewers will be annoyed if you only do ticket shows.
  • It might be possible to only do ticketed cum shows and not do free cum shows.
  • Recommend this to your favorite cam models if you want them to keep camming for multiple months and or earn money more consistently if they only do free shows.
    • However this is more viable to very conventionally attractive models who do good or unique shows.
  • I'm probably missing other reasons why people do free shows over ticket shows.
    • Free shows gets you more viewers, some guys might be into that.
  • Free shows might be good for fast money but only for a short and limited time.
    • Ticket shows might be slower income but more consistent.
  • 25 token ticket price is too cheap of a price but some cam models can make it work.
    • 50 token tickets prices are also rather cheap but starts being comparable to monthly subscriptions.
    • A cheap viewer may buy cheap tickets multiple times if you are very attractive and make good quality content.
    • With expensive ticket prices, cheap viewers would be more likely to just buy them once.
  • Tickets shows are an option if there are not many viewers but you are still willing to cum. I would consider it more after each hour passes without decent amounts of tips.
    • Stopping and not doing a ticket show is also an option when you feel like it.
  • You never know when a tipper will stop tipping.
    • Some viewers may only buy a ticket once.
  • High quality cam model traits are
    • Sensuality, how sexy you can be, this can be natural or you can learn to improve this.
    • A unique show with dedicated tippers or something a good number of people like.
    • A good personality or a personality that isn't bad/ugly.
    • Cock, body, face, and hair. And all the other physical traits.
  • There exists free and popular public shows but those are not common.
    • For some, not most, money isn't the only goal they have and they genuinely like other guys watching them.
• Top Notes:
  • Don't make requests if you don't tip. (Only some rooms are fine with this, most expect tips.)
  • Tip to show appreciation and interest.
    • I suggest to tip if you see them cum and or enjoyed their show. Especially if you haven't tipped them.
  • It's nice to make other people feel good.
  • Remember what these models make you feel.
  • Small tips suck, but remember to appreciate them just sometimes, especially on days with few tippers. It still says viewers like you, no matter the amount.
  • If you're a new cam model, and if you're sexy/attractive/handsome above average, I suggest sticking around for at least a month.

    • It's not uncommon to have many viewers and less than 10 viewers who are tippers.
  • Some viewers also don't bother to read any notices or your profile.
  • Information can help protect you.
  • Parasocial Relationship
  • Rooms will continue without your viewership, without your tips, don't feel pressured. Stop if you ever feel pressured.
  • I've bought and spent tokens.
  • Be nice to models, this is like customer service and rude customers can go fuck themselves.

  • Try to remember when these Models made you feel good, as you may eventually lose interest in them. Don't let it turn bad when you lose this interest.
• Boring, less important notes
  • I'm not a professional writer.
  • I speak with the bias of a viewer, I don't have the real perspective of a model.
  • Some points are extremely opinionated.
• Lazy Notes
  • I like chaturbate as it's simple and relatively user friendly.
  • Token value is decent, where models get 50% of the purchase value of a token. There might be higher values on other sites and can be different depending on the country.
  • As a cheap viewer, I prefer to tip at most 25 tokens. Though I may tip cam models that I really really like more than this.
    • Other cheap viewers can be more generous than me.
    • I tip after seeing a good free cumshow or 2. But I wouldn't care much about cheap tippers like me from a cam models view point.
    • Tippers who tip 100 tokens or more I feel is enough for some recognition.

For Viewers

• Shows are Live Pay-per-minute wank shows. Someone has to be paying for it.
• Tips are required for any requests, masturbation, cumshots, nudity and other actions.
• Some rooms do things differently. This guide focuses on the normal case of models who work for tippers.
• Models also work on getting you to like them.
• Read their Bio and their rules.
• Read their Bio and their rules.

• You cannot assume the nationality of a model based on their skin color or how they look and other defining features.
• Some Models are probably open to chatting in the normal chat, just try it if the chat is empty.
• Know that you can still get scammed in a variety of ways. A few examples are found in this thread.
• Know that this isn't simply easy for the models, they're investing their money, time and effort in this.
• Smaller Rooms do sometimes reach their goals. The top rooms aren't the only ones where viewers are putting tokens.
• In some rooms, it might be a customer or customers paying to chat with their model. Real friendships may develop here. It's possible, but not always.
• Using Chat
  • Don't say gross or weird things.
  • Some models aren't interested chatting or interacting with viewers.
  • Do not bring toxicity into chat.
    • do not bring negative feelings into chat.
    • do not make it awkward to chat such as being dismissive towards the Model or another Viewer.
  • For some or many rooms, quiet chat rooms suck.
    • Get a feel of the mood of the room first.
      • Learn the difference on when to be nice/kind and when to be sexy and horny.
      • Random kind/nice words when a model is trying to be sexy is awkward.
      • Kind words probably only work at the end of a show.
    • You don't have to be nice all of time. Just being nice some of the time helps. Hopefully it spreads.
    • The real world is already hard enough.
    • Saying is Hi and Bye is awkward, sometimes you can just jump into the chat.
    • I know it takes effort to chat, but I've seen dudes cum with the chat being quiet, with the top-tipper not even in the room. That's fucking depressing and demoralizing. Please say something for the effort.
  • People asking for "PM"s are probably asking for a private conversation for private room rates.
  • You can also thank the bigger tippers, it's their tokens that fuel good shows. Don't forget this.
    • It could be that Tippers don't want to acknowledge other Viewers as to pretend a show is only for them. I also sometimes want this.
    • I would stay silent if there is a single or a few top tippers, I'd give them complete control of a show rather than interrupt them.
  • Models have different comfort levels, don't pressure them into doing things.
  • Don't be (too) lazy.
  • Attempt some sexy talk if the room is quiet (don't be weird. Contributing your own energy helps sometimes.
  • Boring small talk when a model is actively trying to be sexy is awkward, don't do that.
  • Contribute to the mood of the room, don't break the vibe.
  • Personal: Can you stop asking if they are bi or have sex with women? it kills the mood HARD. Read their bio. It's better for other viewers to imagine their sexuality without them saying it explicitly. Don't be so self-centered.
  • Some models are straight, don't make things too awkward for them.
• Knowing True Room Goals/Costs
  • Watching a complete show or 2 can help you learn their cost structure.
  • Rooms usually start at 1500 token goals having a value of around $150 USD for the normal Viewer. Models don't get this full amount. Some rooms goals are couple hundred USD more.
  • The good part happens when the major goal is reached. They don't cum until this goal is reached.
  • It is extremely rude to ask them to cum before the goal.
  • Some goals are stated and tracked in the chat window.
  • Some rooms don't have a defined goal and and have cumshots, still feel free to tip.
  • Some rooms don't expect to reach their public goal and are mostly looking for Viewers who want Private Shows.
  • The true cost of reaching major goal is sometimes hidden. The total cost is sometimes stated in the description, it might be stated in room chat as a room notice and or you'll have to do addition/math.
  • Split Costs
    • Room may not have clear goals even with stated amounts, shows explicitly saying cumshows at goal are more trustworthy.
    • A room may have multiple goals with the final goal (probably) being cumming. The number of goals and their cost may not be immediately known.
    • Some rooms have an additional cost after reaching the goal by going hidden/needing to purchase a ticket.
    • The goal of "Jerking off" might be separate from the cumshot/cum show goal, goal names might be deceptive.
    • Special shows often are ticket shows such as if there is quest.
  • Token costs on goal structures may change. It may become higher or lower and may depend on how much time the model is willing to spend.
  • Some rooms don't have a goal and some don't have a goal of cumming.
  • Some models cum before reaching the shown goal, so some shows far away from the goal are sometimes still worth watching. It is extremely rude to ask them to cum before the goal.
  • Rising goal totals

• Token Tipping
  • Tokens are needed for good shows.
  • Room goals are normally Hundreds of Dollars (at least in cost to the viewer)
  • Gray viewers (free viewers) don't increase room visibility, only viewers (blue+) who bought tokens.
    • Being a paying viewer can help increase the visibility of a room translating to their goal being more likely to be reached at least just slightly.
    • Paying viewers can softly upvote a room by being there.
  • Never go over what you're comfortable paying. It can develop into a problem.
  • Try not to feel guilty when they don't reach their goals.
    • I'm not sure how they would feel about pity tokens but perhaps they may feel the support from them.
  • Tokens are only worth 50% in real money of how much they were bought for.
  • Be wary of rooms that hide their Viewer Satisfaction Rating.
  • Smaller rooms can still reach their Goals.
    • Just follow everyone that catches your interest.
  • Aside from strategic Lovense spending, I think small, single digit tips suck, at least 10-25 is somewhere substantial. But small tips are something, they have some tiny value.
  • I don't know about private shows, they can more customized and interesting than public shows.
  • After reaching the goal, some room goal totals reset automatically. Models will still do their incentives.
  • Token Tipping Targets, Always show gratitude
    • Please always show gratitude regardless. It extremely sucks whenever a model's work goes unrecognized, do everything you can to never let that happen to anyone. (They could be having conversations in private messages)
    • Consider tipping your favorite Models a decent amount at least once as soon as you can, especially the smaller rooms.
    • Consider tipping in a later show if you liked a previous show, especially if they came and or put in a lot of effort.
    • Cheaper tickets are around 25 to 50 tokens, that can be compared to the cost of various monthly subscriptions.
    • Remember that generosity can be taken advantage of.
    • The Generous Models/Rooms
      • If they cum before the Goal, I'd consider tipping because I love when that happens.
      • Public shows are also plenty generous on part of the Models.
      • Some shows are greedier than others. Always remember the less greedy.
      • Some ticket show costs are sometimes quite cheap.
      • Smaller rooms may show more gratitude toward tippers.
      • If a Model makes a more-modest-than-usual token Goal, consider being more generous with your tokens.
      • Some good content can be found in their pics and videos, they may have good videos available for their fanclub members.
      • On rooms with cumshots with no visible goals, it's pretty nice to tip after a cumshot.
    • Tipping after the Goal is reached shows even more appreciation, especially if you did not contribute toward the Goal.
    • If they don't have a Lovense, it's kind of easier to tip them after the Goal is reached.
    • I'd be more generous toward smaller rooms over popular rooms.
    • Smaller rooms may still reach their Goals so small rooms are still worth watching to see if you can help reach the goal.
    • You can tip just because you like the Model and disregard the Goal.
    • When you see their cat/dog, you need to pay the pet tax. (prices vary)
    • Show some friggin' gratitude.
    • Not all models are willing to spend multiple hours waiting to reach their goals.
  • Token Tipping Strategies
    • It could be smart to watch a complete show or 2 before tipping tokens. There is risk in not knowing what you'll get or of wasting your tokens.
    • Tipping after seeing a cumshot is very safe if you don't want to tip toward a goal that may not be reached. (Like tipping/paying after finishing your food.)
    • I'm an ass who would only tip after 50% or when near the goal. Might be smart but it's assy.
    • If you're a Big Tipper, you can maybe stop at 200 tips before the goal for like 10 minutes for the smaller tippers. Not too long enough of time for the Model to wait for it to finish.
    • Fun Analogy: Wait until the virgins (Big Tippers) have sacrificed themselves to the volcano (token goal) before sacrificing your own children (before spending your own tokens).
    • This would suck for smaller rooms who don't often reach their goals. Rooms that you may prefer to support.
    • Do not feel the need to tip more than you can. Stay within your means. Be moderate if you need to be.
    • I don't personally know but it might be more pleasurable for the Model if you spread out your token tips.
    • It may help to tip to activate the Lovense when the Model is working on cumming.
  • I'd reserve thumbs down for only poor behavior such as not completing incentives when goals are hit.
    • If they cum, it'd think that's a complete transaction.
    • If the goal is not met, Models don't need to end the show with cumming.
• Models/Room Content
  • Rooms vary in content, some have some focus in chatting with the chat, some play different kinds of games.
  • Some faceless models have very amazing sexy voices and or know how to do godly sexy talk.
  • May just sit around until someone/people have an interest in them.
  • Some models don't expect to meet their goals daily. They might be okay with that.
  • Some rooms focus on private shows instead.
  • Some models might be located at a "certain" place relating to a world event occurring at the moment.
  • But there are many countries in Europe.
  • Some models don't own the room that they cam/have shows in.
  • It may take some time for a model to cum, especially if they came once or twice previously.
  • Straight guys can give good shows. Same as gay dudes can give boring shows.
  • Basic Shows
    • Some models may just do a couple shows and never return.
    • You may not know when a model does their last show but be present and enjoy the moment, don't get too attached.
    • There are good shows before and after the cumshot, those keep my interest past the first show. Sensual sounds are great. This takes extra effort by the model.
    • After the cumshot, models act more natural, being free from pressure of cumming, that part is also enjoyable.
    • Models may have a target time to reach their desired goal.

• Caution towards Models/Rooms
  • Take caution of rooms that hide their Viewer Satisfaction Rating.
  • You may form some "crushes" or attachments to some models. If you give it some time, these feelings may lose their strength. Be sure to appreciate these feelings anyway, appreciate what these people made you feel. Live in the moment.
  • Get used to having your favorite models get pulled into private rooms. :( :( :( Think of it this way, they are making progress toward their own personal goals.
  • If the dude is super duper hot, be extra careful, they may know how to use it.
  • Missing a show, Missing a day, taking a long break, you won't miss much. Feel free to move on.
  • Don't get caught with Fear of Missing Out, there is an endless sea of sexy stuff out there.
  • Goodwill can be banked and cashed out later. Stay on guard.
  • A reddit post about falling for a cam model.
  • Things that Models may do
    • Scammers can still give good shows.
    • Models may just say what they need to to get more tips.
    • Gaybaiting
      • Definition: Homosexual actions done with the only intent to attract the gay audience.
      • Some Male pairs are friends or coworkers who do a sexual things with each other with no romantic feelings whatsoever.
      • Some fucking might not be real, with no penetration happening.
    • Different from the controlled space of normal porn, you may see frustration, resentment, and anger. (But the opposite is also possible or seeing true appreciation.)
    • Models may do things disregarding their cheaper viewers. Don't expect much with small tips.
    • Keep track of shitty behavior, don't get burned too many times. There is a thread on LPSG that talks about this happening.
    • Bad behavior includes: moving goal posts and not doing goal incentives, resetting goal progress.
    • If you dislike something about a Model, just move on from them. (endless sea of other things)
    • I haven't seen models specify a time when they aim for their show to end, but if they don't reach their goal in that time and leave, it's up to the viewer to think if that's bad behavior/showmanship/practice.
• The random pokemon names are probably random generated.
• This is a job for many cam models. This is similar to Content Creators of Youtube or Twitch as more people around the world have access to this technology. More people can create their own porn that they can sell.
• The concept of the swift execution.
  • This is just to reduce the possible suffering of models.
  • Do not give false hope to models.
  • Some models try to attract the attention of viewers actively. Sometimes for hours. Models probably get used to it but it feels bad.
  • I try not to watch rooms that aren't probably going to reach their goal as I don't want them to hope me to tip. Rooms that use their chatrooms feel safer to hang around in.
  • Or could this be bad? They might want viewer numbers to attract the Big Spenders?

For Cam Models

• It's easier to trust rooms with room descriptions that have clear goals and amounts.
  • Clear goals make it so tippers don't get annoyed by wasting tokens.
  • You can set your goal to the highest total you received in one show but you may not get that amount in every show.
• I look at cam/room thumbnail first then the description second.
• Video quality is important in cams, Viewers want to see as much as possible.
• You don't need to be extremely attractive or have a big dick, both helps, but a good show can be better than the boring ones.
  • Some guys have some natural sexual energy to them.
• Concepts:
  • Fear of Missing Out
  • Sunken Costs
• Chaturbate makes it easier for new models to reach the front page.
  • On cam sites, you might have less competition for viewers there.
  • You may find new and different viewers on other cam sites.
• I'm far from an expert:
  • Much of this is conjecture: opinions, assumptions, and guesses that only try to be helpful, I don't have real evidence.
  • Models probably researched more than this in making a good room/show.
  • Some of this might be bad information. Take this information with a grain of salt.
  • Only trying out 1 or 2 things is fine.
  • Private rooms are unknown to me, I guess they are reliable and consistent in some ways.
• Show Times
  • Some show schedules are better than others. There are usually more big tippers at this time.
  • There are show schedules that are super slow. (But there can be a chance to still find big tippers anyway)
  • My bad guess with no evidence is that most big tippers are Americans.
• Your Mental and Physical Health should take the highest priority
  • The difficult things
    • Expect and prepare for entitled, selfish, and or demanding Viewers and few and or small tips.
    • Small tips suck, but remember to appreciate them just sometimes, it still says viewers like you, no matter the amount.
    • Also expect the slow and silent days.
    • Prepare yourself when big tippers are not be there for every show.
    • No matter how much viewers you get, I would say only less than 50 users would tip. I would say around 1 or 2 out of 10 would tip.
  • If you think you're at a point where you may need help/someone to talk to, please seek it from a reputable/trustworthy source.
    • Reading similar stories or sharing your story sometimes helps. r/camgirlproblems, r/sexworkers
  • It may feel painful and difficult at times.
    • Do what you can to make it easier.
    • You may want to make changes to your show to make it easier. I share some thoughts about such changes in a later section.
  • Your Supporters
    • Some Viewers aren't just horny, they might honestly come to like you as a person.
    • The viewers who talk nice can be annoying.
    • Maybe you can trust and believe these dumb words sometimes.
    • Pity tokens, try to feel the good meaning of these tokens from these Viewers. These feelings come from what you make them feel.
    • There is a chance that some models doesn't believe the praise from Viewers. Try to believe them, it can be from a truly good place.
    • Some of your supporters are on a budget. Please understand if they can't tip sometimes.
    • A small tip can have more meaning behind it than a bigger tip. (sorry if this sounds dumb)
    • Sometimes your chat is weird or quiet.
  • Don't get too discouraged with slow days, some of your Viewers can be caught in other rooms, or busy with other things.
    • Dry weeks are probably not uncommon.
    • Do not put more effort than you need to.
    • This might be bad advice but be as lazy as you want when people are not tipping. I hate it you seem miserable. Hopefully you have a tv or something offscreen.
    • I absolutely don't give a damn about professionalism if it causes any kind of suffering.
    • You don't need to put the same amount of effort into all your shows.
    • I can forgive low effort shows. I would forgive how hard it is sometimes.
    • I would be okay with you taking a break for your mental health.
    • I think it's okay if you stop a show if you don't reach your goal in a period of time. Time is precious. If you're that invested, I'd say 1-2 hours is enough wait time for tips. Moving to a ticket show also works.
  • Some guys are freakishly good at cam shows. You don't need to do as much as them.
    • Even super attractive or popular guys sometimes don't reach their goals.
    • Don't compare yourself to other rooms, don't stress yourself out. (Take some tips from video game streamers maybe?)
  • You could stare at the chat/Viewer list, but that sounds annoying. And immersion breaking.
  • I truly hope for safety of all these models. I hope for your health, I hope for your success.
  • Take a much time as you need to to cum, Viewers might be impatient and want it quickly. Don't think too much about it.
• Some viewers buy tokens later (but temper your expectations)
• Some models add to their room title that they're open to Private shows. This makes it more obvious for viewers who prefer private shows.
• Spread a wide net to catch as much fish as possible. (or only the type of fish you want to catch) Spread the word on as many social sites with traffic as you can.
• Good and interesting shows can make Viewers interested in your Onlyfans content.
• Empty or questionable onlyfans/fansly pages don't make you look very good.
• Private Shows near complete goals (80%+) is a shitty move (but there can be a case where you won't reach your goal)
• Another case would be when a single viewer tips over 50% of the goal, you could ask the tipper to give them a private show maybe.
• I'm hesitant on giving 1 token tips. I assume they're just annoying but stating that you appreciate them in the room description or as a notice would make me not hesitant.
• Many male models are straight or assumed to be. If you're gay, a #gay tag might be useful. I prefer dudes who focus solely on the male audience.
• Room Goals
  • This is all guesswork of a Viewer, actual models with experience would have concrete advice.
  • Just some rooms reach their Goal. Slow weeks are probably not uncommon.
  • Goals can be how much you value yourself.
  • Goals can also be how much time you want to spend.
  • Do not give too much for free as you may get greedy viewers. (This may be a good thing)
  • You can maybe make it a ticket show if you only had a few tippers.
  • Your non-gray Viewers help in getting the attention of the Big Tippers.
    • My rough guess is that at 1000 viewers+, you may earn around 250-500 tokens an hour.
    • It depends on how much Big Tippers you get and some on how much normal tippers as well.
    • A Big Tipper is maybe someone who tipped 100+ to a single show.
    • Popular rooms may suddenly popup, taking away some of your tippers.
    • A guess with no evidence is that you may earn more on Fridays or the weekend or near the end of the month.
    • Smaller rooms can still get similar token rates. Big tippers might prefer something new occasionally
    • Only really popular rooms can consistently reach their Goals.
    • There are a number of different strategies in reaching your Goals.
  • I think Goals higher than 3000 tokens are too high but set what amount is comfortable for you.
    • Large token goals drive away Viewers on a budget which are more common.
    • If you offer something unique and put more effort into your show, I would understand higher goals.
  • Smaller Goals
    • Might be more consistent.
    • Possibly have a higher token/hour rate.
    • Some of the models I like have respectable goals of 1500 tokens. I like them more for this. The many Viewers on a budget probably like them more as well.
    • Smaller token goals can attract more types of Viewers including those on a budget.
  • Splitting a goal in 2 can make a room more interesting.
    • Make this split as simple as possible with low effort incentive
    • Stating all goal specifics as a room notice or in the room description makes your room more trustworthy.
    • You can start off clothed for the first half of a show and set whatever small goals to get naked.
    • Viewers might want you to play some "hard to get" rather than you being immediately naked.
    • This can also help measure if there are any interested viewers.
  • Personal: More so of a personal opinion than something concrete, often going into private rooms makes other Viewers think that you don't try to complete public goals.
• Your Show Content
  • Do only what is comfortable for you.
  • You don't really need to talk much.
  • Viewers can appreciate real genuineness/sincerity/candidness.
  • Some models stay fully clothed until they have tippers. (I'm completely okay with this, I want them to be comfortable)
  • Some shows aren't just sexual, they can show more of the human side of sex work. There are some that play music and quite a few who talk about anything.
  • Accentuate/showcase/focus on/use your strengths.
  • A comfortable chatroom
    • A comfortable room is where is easier for viewers to stick around and come back to. (Like a good restaurant)
    • A chatroom can be difficult to manage.
    • Moderators can help to some degree. Though difficult to find, some of your fans can do it for free and do it well.
    • Maybe it's difficult for some and cultural differences may make it difficult, try to have a lax comfortable chatroom, a comfortable room is where Viewers can freely joke around.
    • If you reach the front page and want more visibility, you may want to have a long as possible show to get as much followers as possible.
  • Probably not good to talk directly to non-participating viewers, they might just have you in the background.
  • Tags probably help smaller rooms the most.
  • Ideally keep drama (general and personal) and politics outside your show. Viewers might be looking for an escape from reality for a short while.
• Viewers
  • Don't show your ugly side. It doesn't matter where it is directed. People remember that especially. Would showing that help people return to support you with tips?
  • A good number of Viewers can be Viewers new to your room.
    • Some Viewers can be new the site or new to how cam sites work.
  • There are many things that affect Viewer numbers.
  • Reaching 1000+ viewers does not guarantee that you will reach high numbers consistently.
    • many grey users usually go to which room has the most viewers who paid for tokens.
  • The relationship between a Viewer and a Model is like a personal sexual relationship but not as deep.

  • Regardless of what you do, some Viewers do move on. This is normal for rooms.
