"Anonymous", or perhaps "unexpected" compliments are the best.
Today, I was walking down the street, and saw someone that I've met socially twice before, but don't really "know". I realized who he was when he had passed me. I thought, "Don't be so shy, just turn around and say 'Hi' to him."
So I call out, "Jim... JIM!"
He turns around, and I take off my sunglasses.
"Oh, HI!" he says.
"I thought that was you. How are you?" I asked.
"Just on my way to a meeting. I have to admit, I didn't recognize you. I just thought, 'Hmm... Well, HE'S cute...'"
I guess it was just nice to hear that I made that impression as a random "stranger". :wink:
