007's swimtrunks

A few men I work with have made comments about James Bond's swimtrunks being "gay"...
I wonder if Joe Average will drop his baggy board shorts and wear trunks like that on the beach? I wear tight trunks (better to swim & surf in) and I must admit I enjoy the reaction from people. I wonder if straight American men will lose whatever is holding them back from showing off their bodies. It seems to be if you are straight and you are not a weightlifter, you wear baggy swim trunks.
Jake

Here we go again.

Have a look at the link in the first post Jake.

I think Daniel Craig looks hot in his swimtrunks (what a body too!). I wouldn't be surprised if more men started wearing them next summer.

Rob, judging from your pics, you'd look good in them too. You could wear those swimtrunks here (i.e. Canada)-- not only in Europe or the Caribbean.

If people can see sexy guys/ women in sexy swimwear in those CRAPPY REALITY SHOWS-- and lust after them, they shoudn't be scandalised when they see a sexy guy/woman in sexy swimwear at the beach or at a swimming pool.

I didn't think clothing could have a sexual orientation. I'd wear something like that - in Europe or the Caribbean, not around here where people would be scandalized

I hope that the 007 movie will be hugely popular and will bring back the Speedo (or some variation of it).

I'm so tired of guys covering up their bodies with board shorts. I mean, some board shorts look cool...but why cover up so much of what we have?

Of course, I also hate to be the *only* person on the beach in a Speedo.

So tell all of your friends that the 007 movie rocks!!

This Daniel Craig look of fitted shorts is English retro-chic, harking back to the original days of Bond.

Casino Royale was the first Bond book written in 1952, the first Bond movie was 1962 and the idea of this film is not just to introduce a new actor and possibly more authentic portrayal of Bond, but to go back to basics and reintroduce the younger character as he was at the start of the series. I think they are also trying to preserve his unique British identity and to avoid Americanising him. These trunks do that!

Craig is is not classically handsome but he has, literally, killer looks and is dead sexy to both men and women. Generally I find straight British guys are not especially hung up about being thought gay, I don't think that thought really crosses their mind much.

Discussions like this just reinforce why I make sure to buy nothing but sqaurecut or speedo swimsuits.

Its just more american prudishness, because when I was in Miami this summer, I noticed too many men with nice bodies in those ugly ass board shorts. Wheras the women would go to fucking BRUNCH in thongs and bikinis.

The men that I DID Notice in skimpier suits were, of course, Brazillian, Puerto Rican or Cuban. If straight women started to, after Daniel Craig, insisit that their men wear LESS at the beach...you can best believe that it would start happening.

My worst issue, however, is the number of GAY men who have taken to covering up. Ick.

My trip to Australia this past winter was made wonderful by seeing how free they are with their swimsuits..or 'Cossie's' as they call them :)

I saw the new 007 movie yesterday, and it is a hit! Daniel Craig makes a great James Bond. He is very handsome, well-built, and insanely sexy. As ClaireTalon also provided, I think some critics prefer an actor with a more suave patrician apperance than Mr. Craig's rugged good looks. There is no accounting for tastes, of course, but there is no doubt that Daniel Craig's sex-appeal contributes a lot of energy to the film.

I see nothing "gay" about his swimtrunks. They are a hubba-hubba tight style, but they are also a conservative color and design. Like others have already said, I beleive the current trend for so much of men's clothing to be baggy is unfortunate. Unless one is particularly heavy and out-of-shape, I find the the baggy style to be uncomfortable, unattractive, and silly-looking -- like people are wearing hand-me-downs from larger-sized relatives.

Again, very enjoyable movie. But think about skipping the milk duds, the large hot-buttered popcorm, and the super-jumbo soda if you want a body that would look great in Daniel Craig's swim trunks!

My issue with square cuts is that my cock drifts to the left in them and then I'm walking around showing everyone where my left hip is or were I can't keep my keys in slacks, pants, jeans or shorts. Speedos keep everything in the pouch, unless I see some one I like.

Board shorts are a style. If thats what someone wants to wear, then let them wear it, it's not always an confidence issue. However, if you want, you could try and turn American into a dictatorship and force people to wear what you like to wear.

Daniel Craig is the hottest man alive btw, his eyes..... and body..... and smile.... wow
saw bond few days ago, didnt really follow it.. just couldnt take my eyes off daniel and thinking how hot he is :p

Daniel Craig looks like a giant baby.

What? Are you serious, NIC?
Oh well. No accounting ...
Personally, I like Craig's looks ... not terribly handsome, but very manly looking, a wonderful athlete, and an actor who, as Bond, might just push Sean Connery off the franchise pedastal.
I mean, he might.
Remains to be seen. In his own way, Connery was perfect.
I enjoyed Casino Royale more than any other Bond movie in literally decades.
And those swim trunks ... why, they were practically the default choice of my childhood.

yes, I'm absolutely serious. Eyes close together, lips constantly puckered and kind of sticking out, big goofy ears, always-dopey expression on his face.... almost like George Bush, except less monkey, more baby.

I didn't say anything about his body or athletecism.

But I strongly prefer Brosnan as far as Bonds go..
